But the refugee zoners makes sense and for me, won’t get redundant. What will get redundant will be Clark getting pushed closer and closer to his destiny and not embracing it. How far can Lex go without being full-blown evil, how far can Chloe go without being full-blown reporter? How far can I go without one chest shot of either Lana or Lois?
I say this season should be the last. If they must do more, make them two hour movies spread through-out the next season, after this season he must be Superman. If they don’t want to end it, put him in the suit and let him solve problems in Metropolis. Change the name to Metropolis and BOOM! lack of ideas solved.
Season 6 would make a decent run, a nice end would be for Clark to pack his shit and tell his Ma he’s “heading north.”
Whatever it’s fate, I’ll be there until the end like a good little Superman fan.

You and me both. I also feel that they are setting this up to be the last season, at least in the Smallville setting. Green Arrow has been doing a good job of lighting a fire under Clark’s ass to help the world, not just his buddies.

That was a great storyline. A big deal when it first premiered.
I like how they are rounding out Ollie Queen. He’s not just the lantern-jawed hero. He may seem at first to be (paraphrasing buffys) “Batman without imagination” but they are beefing up his persona. I think having a flawed hero is a great step towards flleshing out the JLA for the show. Flash is a thief, Aquaman is an eco-terrorist, and Cyborg is black (I kid because I love.)
They should have a scene where Clark squeezes the heroin out of Ollie’s arm, a la The Crow.

I’m digging this Green Arrow. He’s not a boy scout, but he’s not a complete bastard either. I like how with Clark’s influence he’s learning to do good, as is Clark is learning from him to find an alter-ego.
I’m thinking the JLA scenario would work great. Even if Welling wanted to quit or cut back, they could still do it. Although if Rosenbaum pulls out, the show is dead. He brings such magnetism to the role. As much as I adore Superman Returns and Kevin Spacey’s turn, MR is the tits. I actually feel empathy for him when he does something shitty, I know he doesn’t want to, but knows no other way.
I may be in the minority here, as most of the haters of this show who frequent these very boards like to dump on this show, to that I say fuck’em!, but I always wanted Welling and the Smallville cast to make the Star Trek-like leap frog into movies.
Oh well.
Somewhere on one of my hard drives is the Tom Welling as Superman sketch by Alex Ross. I know everyone always says “He sucked in The Fog!” but everybody sucked in The Fog. I just want to at least see him in the costume once…if even for the last shot of the last episode. Haters be damned, this show was there when the idea of another Superman movie was a big fucking joke.
I personally think that Michael Rosenbaum brings a helluva lot more charisma to the character of Lex than Spacey did. Granted, Rosenbaum had 6 years to grow into the character, but he has always been in top form on the show.

I concur the Rosenbaum love. A dream of the ultimate stunt casting would be to have Gene Hackman star as his grandfather. His mom’s dad who turns out to be a huge fucking bastard, yet Lex looks up to him.
Yes, I remember this pic. I was excited when I saw it. The kid would have nailed it had he been given the chance. I saw an interview done by Carson Dailey, where he said he would do Superman had the entire cast made the leap with him.
Ah well.

This was an excellent episode. Glad to see Green Arrow was not addicted to some Kryptonite juice. Just good ole’ fashion synthetic smack.
No complaints, aces all around.
The Lana surprise should play out nicely. Lex will either react like he’s suppose to and a tradegy occurs or he will act like a typical male…
Either way he continues to the Darkside.

I posted that 10 days ago, and almost thought it had come true tonight. When Lana was saying “I’m…I’m…” I was so eager to hear “I’m dying” that I was actually pissed when I heard her say she was preggers.

The best abortion was done on South Park with the baby mountain lions aborting the anti-christ from Kyle.
Here’s hoping the kid is Zod’s so it can punch a fucking hole through her stomach and she dies. Seriously. I was hoping she had a cerebral hemmorhage (much like WayDen predicted) and she’d be dead by mid-season.
Other than that, loved the episode. I’m glad after the Aquaman pilot tanked they were able to get the actor on the show somehow. He brings a nice dichotomy to Clark’s outlook on being a hero.
Is that motherfuckin’ Bautista next week? I couldn’t get a good look, but that guy holding Clark up was MASSIVE.

does Clark own a vehicle just for pretence reasons? he does a lot of traveling between Metropolis and Smallville. i can see him in the barn with the truck on blocks spinning the wheels to get the odometer to match his trips.
also, Lois call 911 in Metropolis and ends up in the Smallville hospital?
i like the show but sometimes, just sometimes, the small(ville) stuff in the show ruins an otherwise watchable episode.

While I’m not sure how much a knee slapper a dead baby is… I could really see this happening. Somehow Lex causes it, after the both smash through something.. but he blames Clark, Lana dies (not likely, but I can hope), and Lex turns all big bad.
I really think they should kill Lana off whenever they decide to end the show, which should be soon. I love it dearly, but it needs to go away before it stays too long.
I think with her death, the Clark/Lex rift would be complete.
I don’t know if the Brothers Warner will let them do that. It would be great, believe me I would bronze the DVD I burned the episode on, but with talks of a sequel to “Returns” they may be iffy about messing with continuity.
I hadn’t thought of this before but bringing Lana into the updated movie universe would be an interesting romance angle for Clark. It would certainly leave Clark an out romantically so he doesn’t become a homewrecker with Lois. This is purely conjecture, but I only see Chloe dying in the future.
