Didn’t see a thread, so here ya go.
I really enjoyed last nights premiere. Interesting take on what happens in the phantom zone, Lex’s “kneel before Zod”, Jimmy Olsen casting, etc.
Looking forward to this season, especially the introducing of more DC comic characters.
I thought it was a pretty good episode, except for one thing; What happened to all the Kryptonite lying around Smallville? It’s always available anytime someone needs to take Clark down yet as soon as Zod comes along it’s nowhere to be found?
Unless by possessing Lex, Zod was immune to Kryptonite. That still wouldn’t explain why no one tried to use it on him though. They had no reason to believe it wouldn’t work.
I wonder how long the reveal at the end takes to rear its head. This should be an interesting season. Green Arrow should be showing up soon.

I thought the exact same thing too. Maybe Zod(Lex) was immune but they should have atleast shown that.

God I fucking hate this show. And this opener really solidified Kristen Kreuk as one of the worst actresses on television for me. And I have a feeling that we’ll have to suffer through every freak of the week being a human possessed by a Kryptonian super criminal instead of a Kryptonite mutant. And Jimmy Olsen should NOT be of an age with Clark. Hate this show SO MUCH.

Yet you continue to watch? Odd.
The premiere was fine. Looking forward to Green Arrow’s appearances. I wish the show would either seque into a Superman series or a Justic League focusing on the pains of being a superhero.
Clark’s destiny should be coming into view anytime time now, if not, he’s the biggest dolt alive.
I still like the series. The cast is charismatic enough and Erica Durance is the hottest thing on two legs right now.
Zod help me, I like this series but I gotta say, the season opener was terrible.
Cheesy is the word that leaps to mind. I want to scream about the universally bad acting in this one but the dialog was so painful to hear, I doubt anyone could have pulled it off without looking bad. Lex especially got screwed, he does subtle evil well but when he was possessed by zod I could barely watch. It was like they copy/paste some dr.evil dialog and asked the actor to make it feel threatening.
That said, it’s only episode 1 so I’m not too upset. They always have to tie up the last season’s “cliffhanger” and thats generally a messy business. Now that much has been reset (I’ll wager a lot that smallville and metropolis will be clean and shiny next episode) we can move on.
It has it’s misstep. This ain’t high art so let any and all pretenses go and enjoy it.
It always recovers. Stay tuned for next weeks episode, Green Arrow appears.

I thought that this was the best season opener since the series started. Just on excitement and “holy shit” moments alone, this episode shined. Yeah, I got pissed off as well that Lana was conveniantly was knocked out before the shit hit the fan, but oh well, gotta keep that drama going.
“Kneel before Zod!” was awesome. Was it me, or did they break into the set of Elektra for the last fight?
Overall, some nice moments. I don’t get the hate. Enojoy it or leave it.
It was pretty good aside from the fact it should have been a two-hour season premier. They shoehorned too much resolution into one hour. That shot of Zod creaming Clark through the rock was pretty cool.
Two hours would have been. Can’t wait for Ollie Queen to show up.
Eh the show premiere was alright. If it was extended, it would of been better, but it did its job of cleaning up the mess of last season later half.
The show needs to end now.
I hope it ends soon, I don’t want it to over stay it’s welcome. Unless they do some radical format changes, sail into a Justice League spin-off or something, it will go down faster than a Thai hooker.
Rumors are swirling that Rosenbaum and Welling are considering leaving at the end of this season.

They’ve been saying the show was going to end for about three years now. I remember the rumor was that the end would come when Clark graduated high school.
I think this should be the last season. Let him figure out what he wants to do in the world, and have him walk off into the cornfield, a la the Donner film.

Much better episode than the season opener was. (Very few eye-rolling moments of cheese.) Liked the “gesundheit” from Chloe, which Annette O’Toole used in Supe3 when he sneezed the bowling ball down the alley Cool ending too (Green Arrow.) Looks like maybe some good episodes to come in the future.

I don’t think they’ll let that happen, though. It’s a fledgling network and I doubt the CW will tank one of its (relative) ratings bonanzas. They’ll keep this puppy afloat as long as they possibly can. I mean, they resurrected “Seventh Heaven”, for god’s sake.
