Well I think SH is a bit more throw everything at the wall batshit insane. Also I think I think it moves a bit faster but not much. When the curse was broken at the end of the first season of Once I remembering wondering where the hell they would go from here. I figured that would take YEARS. It did drastically change what show they were doing though. In the first season you had hints of magic, now there are literally ice monsters rampaging down the street.
Heck Sleepy Hollow could do a spin-off on the new character and his coin obsession. Follow him as he travels the country to find all 30 creepy coins… The Numismatist!
I’d watch that show, actually. Could be a fun little Indiana Jones-esque adventure series. A way to expand the reach of SH beyond, well, the town of Sleepy Hollow.
Considering the batshit crazy supernatural universe they’ve established I can see a few spinoffs coming from this show.
John Noble must be having a ball playing such a dastardly villain.
Gawd, I love this show.
Presenting a new character and one that doesn’t weigh the story down, but helps propel the story forward. And is also a welcome addition to a already large cast of (colorful) characters. This show does it.
Continually mixes history, drama, sci fi/fantasy, and horror with a wink, wit and charm. This show.
Combine this show with Drunk History and what a night of TV. And I’m thinking of Drunk History only because I finally watched the ep of that show that has the bit on Benedict Arnold the night before watching this.
Yeah, I really like the new guy. He looks like he’s going to have really great chemistry with the two leads (although, oddly, his chemistry - in this one episode, at least - seems much better with Crane).
Yeah, oodles of chemistry between those two. I think the new guy is suppose to be a possible romantic interest for Abbie?
I love the near complete lack of subtlety in the show. Hey, you know that axiom ‘money is the root of all evil?’ Well, this coin will literally make you evil.
Fucking love it.
Ichabod ‘Tokyo Drift’ Crane
I hoped the fight would end up like the Black Knight fight in The Holy Grail after the arm came off.
I am glad the writers realized that if they are going to do a monster of the week, it 1) should tie into the mythology somehow 2) and more importantly, the relationship between Crane and Abbey can always benefit from some fun.
The car and coffee scenes are great little moments that I end up enjoying more than anything else in this crazy ass show.
If there was anything I’d ask this show to do it would be to pull back on the exposition just a bit. Some scenes and the dialogue are supremely guilty of this, and it can be frustrating at times to watch.
Props to the props. Bone flute is rockin’ and that was one awesome albino baddie.
Also, holy crap the previews for next week’s episode looks down right SCARY!
This week’s episode was the first to dip under the 8/10 score for me because, whilst there was a lot to enjoy, it wasn’t quite up to the same level as the previous three weeks. Still, I’d give it a strong 7/10, mainly for the humor (the coffee scene got a big laugh from me), John Noble being all John Noble (and Irving is suddenly interesting due to him!), and a creepy monster of the week (even if it did feel bit underused). They’re also doing a good job at making me like Hawley, even if he’s almost a direct copy of Sawyer from Lost (you know I’m right).
A fun hour but it felt a bit like a filler episode to me.
More like Han Solo, which is what Sawyer really was. Also, fuck LOST.
Enjoyed this episode a lot. Crane’s got mad driving skills, yo!
One negative this week (and really the only thing I could think of), it lacked Jennifer Mills 
I was gonna say Nathan Drake, due to whole gun holster over the long sleeve shirt thing, but it’s still Han Solo regardless.
Love the monster-of-the-week episodes. This was fun - Pied Piper is a oogly monster! *clapping hands in glee* fun!
Really digging Hawley. And the consistently good makeup FX.
Another fun episode. I liked that while Crane and Mills thought they won the day, Henry also got what he wanted. Irving’s vision was wild.
I’m loving this one already.
