This week’s episode was much better than the last, but I’m surprised Julia’s mother didn’t make an appearance.
It’s nice that Matt is coming back around and that his sister is still alive!

Usually it does. I don’t have anything my TiVo records after this so I always put at least 5 extra minutes for recording the whole thing. For the finale, I have it going an extra 10.

i fully understood your “point”. as i’ve previously posted you were stating the obvious, mr. langdon. can you grasp a show at all? do you not understand why the carver is disguised? everyone knows the carver is going to be someone we, the audience, know. if we know who the carver is then kimber certainly would too. so yes! you are right, or is it write? me confused, the carver may have possibly been invited to the wedding but that’s beginner’s guide to common sense 101. i figured that one out right away because i’ve graduated from my 3rd grade class recently! my teacher was a good one too. you’ll be there soon enough pal.
the sheer brilliance of the psychiatrist? haha too funny. i never said it would be her. i mentioned that it would be funny if she eventually is revealed as the carver and that it would obviously prove the show is making shit up as they go on. sorry, i’m not the person who is throwing around ridiculous idea’s contradicting all of their theories. i’m also not the one who believes that 18 months ago the person who’ll eventually be revealed as the carver was dressing into a disguising suit stabbing julian mcmahon with needles and that this same exact person’s voice has been the carver’s the entire time, only tweaked somewhat. so fuck, i guess lena olin’s voice was manipulated on alias this week too. i swear i thought i was hearing a male’s voice with a spanish husk to it. damn these show’s are good!
now on to this past weeks show…pretty solid episode overall but as someone mentioned at the beginning of this thread, nip/tuck really love hammering you down with all these metaphors. sean/christian/julia/matt vs santa/mrs. kringle/assistant/fetus. then the paint washing off at the end. come on!
i can’t wait for the season finale. the trailer look’s pretty interesting but it revealed too much. there’s no possible way quentin can be the carver unless they pull a scream (multiple people). it also looked like the carver sent a breast implant covered in blood to sean and christian. poor kimber…i think. it really sucks that we’re coming to end with stories from mcnama/troy for awhile but we finally get the return of vic mackey and the strike team! woohoo! then it’s on to rescue me. man i love fx.
Don’t forget that new show Thief, with Andre Braugher and Egg.

I thought it was a Two Hour finale tonight.
Well, I don’t know for sure, but my DVR is showing one episode tonight and another on Thursday and the season pass is set to record only new episodes. Plus, the info has two different show names. Guess I will find out when I get home.

Also, Entertainment Weekly has a Vegas odds article about the Carver. Bobbilit was one of the options. I thought he died last season, but I guess they never confirmed that. He does have it out for Christian and Kimber.

The title of the episode is “Quentin Costa”, which means he is the featured patient of Troy/Macnamara.
First of all, moovyphreak, my Tivo lists the season finale split also. I suggest you correct it manually because it is DEFINITELY 2 hours tonight. The thursday episode is listed as “quentin costa” which is just really the 2nd hour of the finale.
Also, I can finally chime in after catching up. I have been pretty disappointed with the haphazard approach that this show has taken in the last few episodes. After they revealed that Christian wasn’t the carver and the detective was shown as a victim it was like a totally different show began. Sean went on his scheduled mid life crisis (that is really becoming an annoying theme in this show), christian tried to settle down (which was actually enjoyable), and the best story was actually Julia becoming independent. The carver was forgotten and the show was just meandering around.
I actually reached my fill of the ridiculousness of the show when they did the plane crash episode. It was fine and good until they revealed that julia’s mother never got on the plane. That was the biggest punch in the dick of the viewers. After christian…a fucking doctor…explains why he thinks that charred body was her mother’s right down to a fucking birthmark it ends up being someone else? And after a doctor declared the woman dead…she wakes up (now unless this was adream sequence of julia severing her relationship with her mother, but I dont think it was). Also…wtf one year of pre-med teaches you JACK SHIT about actual medicine. Julia should not know anything after one fucking year of pre-med.
Anyway, i liked the kimber reveal and then I felt the show got back on the tracks. I am excited about this finale because I am eager for this story to be wrapped up. This show got pretty lost in itself though and had me worried.
Quick heads up to the east coasters out there. For the first couple hours after the finale ends try to still put spoiler warnings when discussing who the Carver is. I’ll try to stay away from this thread until I watch the entire show but just in case I or anyone else here out west screws up it would be appreciated.
Oh, and to kill 2 birds with one stone. If you east coasters watch tonight’s Barbara Walters special on heaven and how to get there try to keep the spoiler warnings on that as well until us on the west coast have also been told how to get to heaven.

I didn’t think Nip/Tuck could be more outlandish or surreal than last season’s finale, but this takes the cake. I booed the screen at the Carver’s reveal and I booed again at the “twist” ending. I’m glad this Carver stuff is behind us.

I was disappointed as well. Not so much by the identity as by the plot holes it left. Somehow Kimber managed to be kidnapped by someone not invited to the wedding from in front of a giant mirror w/o her or anyone else ever seeing him. That, along with her speech to Christian, had me thinking she was the “co-Carver”, and that probably would have made more sense. Quenton just happening to be the one called in to operate on Sean was a nice coincidence… Lying about Gina calling 911 was an incredibly (and conveniently) dumb move. Not to mention sending a current photo to the convent and then pointing the doctors to it. And not a word was given to why no one would notice that the Carver’s body disappeared before his autopsy.
The other storylines were handled quite well. Kimber and Christian were simultaneously saddening and disturbing. Julia’s pregnancy left us with a nicely dangled thread for next season, as did Matt’s storyline. In fact, it was the side stories that kept the episode from being a disaster for me.
This show thrives on its surreal nature and wild twists, but this one just seemed rushed and sloppy. After a year and a half of build-up, this episode needed to be a home run, and instead we got something akin to a bloop single.

A bit of a letdown, the Carver storyline now makes episodes of “Prison Break” seem like a documentary. Then when Sean and Christian find out the truth they barely seem interested by the fact that the two people who have brought them so much grief the past year are still on the loose.
The Matt/Tranny situation was a bit more interesting, but what bugged me about that was how Matt put up zero resistance when the father got in the car and stated they were all going for a ride. He just sort of slid over like they were on their way to Baskin Robbins.
I am with farsight here. I posted earlier on the meandering nature of the show the last few episodes and was hoping for a big finish. Unfortunately, they went with the person they were just SCREAMING at the audience to think was the carver. Once again, Ryan Murphy’s lack of subtlety wins out again over good writing.
The twist involving the detective being the deformed sister was an interesting one, but I honestly laughed at the fact that quentin was wearing a squib suit under his shirt. The fact that the body would not be in the morgue anymore…yea thats a huge whole. Hmm…I don’t know I kind of liked the fact that they were in cahoots all along, but it just raises so many questions looking back on the season that just aren’t answered well at all.
The storyline with matt was well done, julia’s baby problems are a nice thread, but jesus christ can they decide to keep these two apart or together? Wasnt this the end of season 2 also?
I liked Kimber’s revelation of everything, but if she really felt that way about beauty, did she really need to have ALL of her surgeries redone?
I dont know…it was a nice shocking episode on its own when you watch it, but if you just think about it for 5 minutes you realize how weak it was.
I just wanted to add, I caught a bit of the finale again on a friend’s Tivo, and it’s stunning how much that last Carver segment feels like they filmed multiple endings with multiple Carvers (to keep the crew from spilling the beans), then accidentally attached the wrong ending to the show they aired.
Coming out of the grave to comment on this show that I have been whoring all season and saying..
(tentatively) impressive finish.
The finale was just packed with action, incredibly tense, and quite fitting. I know that everyone and their mother had guessed Quentin since the beginning of the season, and I hoped that it wouldn’t be that obvious, but alas it was. That said, the way in which it was revealed was pretty great. I know, I know, the logic people are up in arms, but (the reason for my tenative label) nothing that happened is completey unexplainable, should they continue on with this storyline. If we get into season 4 and the Carver goes forgotten, I will look back with some venom, but as it stands, who the hell else would have made any sense? I was pulling for some off the wall shit like Julia or Fight Club Kimber, but it just wouldn’t have fit. I get the sense that this actually was planned as far back as the season 3 premiere, which is probably as much as you can ask for with an arc stretching across multiple seasons. Maybe it wasn’t as intricately planned as Veronica Mars’ season 1 arc, which was air tight, but as a fan, I walk away satisfied. (I have my suspicions that it was meant to be Adrian but the arc got popular and was promoted to front and center for S3..I guess with that said it could have always been Quentin, who was briefly introduced in s2.)
All said and done, only Veronica Mars comes remotely close to this as the best serial drama of Fall 2k5. Perhaps being spoiled prior to the reveal softened the blow of it being the obvious choice (damn you YTMND.com), but I will continue to sing nothing but praise for this show and this seasons finale, so long as they go back and dig deeper next year.

I liked the teamup aspect of the Carver which pretty much tells me that Kit and Quentin attacked the sorority as a pair.
And as soon as Quentin was reveal not to have a penis I felt he was the strongest contender for the Carver.
And why didn’t they know Quentin disappeared? Surely someone looked in the body bag before he was buried?
