I never really watched this show when it aired. My sister kept recommending it, so I finally borrowed the DVD sets.
I managed to take in the whole series [so far] in the space of two weekends. Just finished wth Season Two last night. Solid show. Great acting. Although he’s a complete dick, Christian Troy is my new hero.
Anyways, I didn’t see any threads for this. Figured I’d start a new one since Season Three kicks off in a few days.
Thoughts?
I caught up with the entire show this summer with the Saturday reruns on FX. Two more episodes to go!
LOVE this show. I started watching when Season 2 started…after the season ended they did a Season 1 marathon one night and my wife and I stayed up for 5 hours watching it. Just couldn’t turn it off. I’ve since watched the remainder of Season 1 and am feverishly looking forward to Season 3 on Tuesday…
I hope the actor who plays Christian doesn’t get too big for this show and sticks with it for a while, as long as the show stays as good as it is now.
The only reason I’m not too sad about “Rescue Me” being done for the year is because I’ve got this show to look forward to. I normally can’t stand medical dramas but this one has hooked me in big time. While Troy is great and gets most of the acclaim, Dylan Walsh is superb and did a fantastic job with all the hell his character had to go through last season.
Easily one of the best shows on TV right now. I can’t wait for Season 3 to start.

Anxiously awaiting the premiere… this show had the only true “FUCK ME!” season-ender last year. I hate cliffhangers. I love cliffhangers.

Pretty good mixture of moments you can’t look at and moments you most definitely had to look at. That rape scene was pretty extreme, more than I thought even this show could get. I suppose it’s the idea of being paralyzed while that happens that makes it a bit tougher.
But in the end it’s classic Troy when Kimber sees him fucking the cop and that’s what helps to salvage their relationship. “I’m me again baby, I’m back.”
Plus, as a bonus we got a bunch of movie trailers and that cool “Shield” 5th season teaser with the Johnny Cash song playing.
I watched the Season 3 premiere last night and I was impressed with the tone, acting and dialogue. Previously, I’d never seen an episode of this show.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so disgusted (woman fused to couch) and so enticed (a 3-way with Kelly Carlson and Rhona Mita…jesus!) during the same episode of a television show.
So was it within character for Kimber to just jump in with these two after mustering 30 seconds of some pretty weak outrage?
Also, that new partner is creepy. He was looking at Julian Mcmahon like he was a hot Quizno’s sub.
I’ve been watching the show since episode one, and watched the Season 3 premiere last night.
The premiere seemed to take a while to get going, but it was a great episode overall. Momma being fused into the couch, the threesome, the truth about Christian’s carver attack; it was all there. I have been waiting nearly a year to see this and it didn’t disappoint.
I have a feeling that the new doctor that Christian and Shawn brought in is quite possibly the carver. I haven’t rewatched Season 2 on DVD yet, but if I’m not mistaken, he’s the doctor who repaired Shawn’s face after he was attacked by the carver. I seem to remember the doctor giving some excuse in Season 2 when they said he was hard to get up with. That would also explain why he was so interested in Christian’s injury.
Didn’t mean to thread-jack, just had to throw that out there.
I do hope the season stays solid from here. It’s great to have the old Christian back.
I was a little disappointed with this premiere. Last season’s finale was so fucking good (The Carver, Ava Moore turning out to be Avery Tanner, Adrian meeting an unfortunate end, etc.) and then we get some fat lady fused to a couch. How many times have we seen that played out in TV/movies? This show is known for having outrageous storylines that have never been done before or framiliar plots being shown in a new way.
As for your theory, Mr.Vindictive, I don’t think the new partner is The Carver. In the previews for the rest of the season, they gave us a glimpse of The Carver unmasked and he wasn’t the new doc.
As USA was playing Congo during the show when I watched it, it was quite surreal to see McNamara replacing gooey implants on the one hand and then flip channels to see him loving on that fucking powergloved monkey. His hair in Congo was cash money. I don’t know why he left it behind.
Great episode, this show has me totally sucked in.
Kimber’s totally desperate for any bit of affection from Christian - she’d do anything for him.
As for the Carver… We know he’s a character we’ve seen, or there would be no reason to hide his identity and voice from us. It’s pretty clear the Carver is male - no boobs, male voice (even modulated), and the rape scene w/ Christian made it a sure thing.
I’m calling it now. The Carver is Julia’s boy-toy. He’s a recurring character from season 1, so we do know him. He worked at Sean & Christian’s office (and was fired). He was a male prostitute with extreme sexual desires (like the swingers party). He was in school and interning to be a plastic surgeon, so would likely have access to medical equipment (like scalpels, needles and anaesthetic).
Of course, I could be totally wrong…

Not nessasarily. Strap-ons aren’t out of the question.
I thought it was an unnessasary hour and a half episode. Should have trimmed it down to an hour. The scenes of the guys carrying the woman out seemed a little too long for me.

That’s about the best guess I’ve heard so far. They brought him back for the opener so they could be trying to remind us of who he is before revealing him to be the Carver. I really can’t think of anyone else who would make more sense than him.

Good episode…but Ryan Murphy really doesn’t understand the idea of subtlety does he? He literally hits the viewer over the head with his allegory and metaphors. He did the same thing with the siamese twin separation and sean and christian’s personal split at the time. It was way to fucking obvious today with the lady on the couch trying to move forward but she couldnt. They did everything but say, “attention, this lady’s story is really a message to christian to move on with his life”.
I do agree also that Christian bounced back pretty easily from the whole rape thing, but the detective’s understanding/sexiness may have had something to do with it.
Once again, I gotta say that Kelly Carlson (kimber) is one of the finest “actresses” on tv right now. Good GOD she is smoking.
As far as the carver, from the upcoming scenes I gotta think they are going to setup Matt as a suspect for the Carver, but knowing this show there is going to be some weird twists involved, although…knowing this show the idea of a son ass raping his father is sick enough that it just might work.
Matt as the Carver doesn’t make sense though. When the Carver started attacking people, Matt was happily involved with Famke Jannsen (before learning what her cameltoe used to be). Also, the idea of him attacking his father(s) is unbelievable. “Beauty is a curse on the world” doesn’t really fit any insight into his psyche we’ve seen. If he were revealed as the Carver, I’d be very disappointed.
