Nip/Tuck Season Three

And I’m also not 100% sure the scene w/ the Carver and Kimber was real. It was only a couple episodes ago that we got a very vivid dream sequence of Sean imagining Anne Heche being killed. And Christian has been imagining Kimber’s face on people’s bodies. Also, like was mentioned, the Carver has wanted to be very public about his actions, so having Kimber write a note would be strange. Plus, I’m pretty sure someone who has had their mouth sliced open ear-to-ear could not possibly talk as easily as she did in that scene.

Yes, but that scene with Sean resolved itself within a few minutes, and the way he urgently opened the door suggested that it was HIS imagination, not a hypothetical scene shown only to the audience.

Christian doesn’t seem to be reacting as if Kimber was kidnapped, so I have a hard time believing that the Carver scene had anything to do with Christian.

Come to think of it, this scene is a pretty interesting parallel to what happened with Sean and Anne Heche, except this time, it looks like the kidnapping/assault actually happened.

As far as the Carver’s publicity cravings, I think he’s enjoying Christian’s anguish over being left at the altar more than he would if Christian knew that his fiance was in danger. He’s making him hate the girl he was supposed to love.

I came to that conclusion, too. So the question is, who would hate Christian so much that s/he would want to see him suffer like this? Answer that and we’ve got our Carver.

I enjoyed this past week’s episode. Things are really beginning to pick up and it all should end in a rather exciting finale.

Referring back to the episode a few weeks ago where Christian and Sean performed a facial transplant that turned out unsuccessful, I saw this article about an actual facial transplant that just took place in France. So far, things seem be working out.

The Carver treated Christian noticeably differently from his normal victims. He didn’t cut Christian’s face, but his neck.

Why? Maybe it’s just because the Nip/Tuck makeup artists didn’t want to apply fake-scars to McMahon’s cheeks for the first few episodes of Season Three, but maybe there’s something more there… like The Carver didn’t want to mess up Christian’s looks. Which doesn’t really fit with his “Beauty is a curse on the world” tagline.

The Carver only gave Sean a superficial cut to one side of his face. Their attacks were warnings/punishment, not part of the pathology.

Here’s something to think about:

It seems unlikely that a masked person in black could get into a full chapel in the middle of the day, subdue the bride, and carry her out without anyone noticing. More likely is that The Carver came in sans disguise. Also, even with his sedative, it would be awfully risky to try to subdue a woman from across the room while she’s looking into a huge mirror. Note that the Carver was never shown entering the room. This seemed at first to be simply for dramatic effect, but perhaps it was also because it would have given away the identity. If the person at the door were someone Kimber recognized, it would make it easy to drug her or simply convince her to follow. It would also make it possible (or even likely) that the Carver was invited to the wedding. Lastly, Kimber asked the Carver “Why are you doing this?” That seems like an odd question to ask an insane masked stranger. But if she knew who was behind the mask, that scene would play differently.

Just some idle thoughts, probably to be disproven in a few weeks…

it took you only 2 weeks to decipher this? there’s nothing to ponder about really. it’s common sense the carver wouldn’t go to the church dressed up with his/her gear. “hey look at me i’m the mothafucking carver baby!”. and unless kimber is retarded, blind or suffer’s from cronic amnesia she would know who the carver is, or at least have seen them.

whatever happened to grace santiago? i can’t even remember them saying, if they even did, why she left the show. i guess valerie cruz was a bitch around the set or something. it would be funny if she just magically reappeared as the carver. now tell me that wouldn’t be “making it up as they go on”.

Yeah, but an alternate scenario occured to me as I watch the last few minutes of Nip/Tuck. Just as Sean imagined Anne Heche being gunned down in the bedroom, Christian could have been imagining the Carver/Amber scene. Think about it, a Lothario with an ego as huge as Christian’s is quite likely to construct some explanation for his abandonment at the altar rather than willingly believe that his fiance could have ditched him. Thus, although Christian holds Amber’s “Dear John” letter in his hands, he imagines this scenario where the Carver has spirited off Amber and forced her to write such a letter. I don’t think that this is the way the show is going to play out (it just doesn’t have that spicy zest of Nip/Tucky goodness about it), but it is a possible explanation.

In case anyone missed the commercial:

http://myspace.com/thecarver seems to be official.

Well that was a rather unpleasant hour of television. Pretty gruesome stuff. Looks like they will (perhaps) lighten things up next week with a Christmas themed show. Now if that entire episode comes and goes without showing Sean’s daughter then this photo should immediately be put on milk cartons across the country:

Wow, you managed to be an ass, and miss the main point. Good job!

As I recall, she left when Sean invited her to dinner and hit on her.

The Carver is a Scorpio. That explains everything. Every Scorpio I know is a crazy nutjob.

Wow… I really did not like that episode at all. It just felt completely out of place in terms of the tone of the series.

I don’t know… there was just something about the way it was shot and how the story was told that I can’t put my finger on…

Agreed it was awful. I read in EW that Ryan Murphy, the creator of this show, has largely been gone this season to work on his film debut. It shows. The writing this season has been awful. They’ve taken this fun, quirky show into way darker territory, and not wholly successfully. They’ve also not been very good at carrying on storylines. People come and go (sexy detective, Annie), storylines aren’t fully realized (Christian and Quentin should have been a great duo to watch on screen; instead Christian grows a conscience and makes Quentin the bad guy), and characters become one-note (does Matt do anything besides storm into a room and complain about how his parents just don’t understand him?). I’m still into the show and will watch the season play out, but its gotta pick up soon.

I thought the episode was fantastic. The ending left me bloody, and crying on the prison shower floor.

I mean, come on, those heart breaking final minutes…and then the sucker punch. The look on Julia’s face sold me for next season.

When I said the last episode was unpleasant, I didn’t mean that to say it was a bad episode. It was just a real rough one to get through. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a TV show, or film for that matter, go that far to portray the trauma units that would be set up after a plane crash. The guy singing “When the Moon hits your eye” while getting his arms cut off was just tough to watch.

But like I said, next week’s episode looks like a more humorous one but with only 2 left I gotta believe there will be some sort of Carver appearance before the finale.

the main point is you were stating the total obvious and trying to decript it like you’re robert langdon. thanks for the props by the way!

not a bad julia themed episode. it could’ve certainly been worse. she did a nice job bitching out on quentin. i’m wondering what he’s going to be up to now? i agree with what some of you have been saying about the writing this season. just totally dropping kit after she got ‘carved’ was pretty lame. you think they would’ve followed up on her a few episodes later even if it was for only one scene and that whole anne heche subplot was fucking ridiculous. atleast we had christian fucking a chick with a paper bag over her head!

It was so obvious you missed it twice, and threw in another snide remark, bad grammar, spelling, and puncuation! That’s a messageboard hat trick!

The point wasn’t that the Carver wouldn’t show up in costume, it was that Kimber likely knew “him”, and he may have been part of the wedding - either would reduce the cast of suspects a decent amount.

I know it’s not the sheer brilliance of tossing out as a suspect the psychiatrist whose brief storyline ended ages ago, but then again, I wasn’t claiming intellectual superiority through posts written at a 3rd-grade level.

As for the episode, I thought it was pretty strong stuff, although Sean whimpering like a baby when his wife (apparently) had just seen her mother turned into charcoal, was pretty pathetic. Her mom being on the couch was a huge surprise, and great dark comedy.

I think this season has been at least as good as the previous years, but it does suffer from the Carver storyline’s prominence. Every episode that doesn’t move that plotline forward feels a little bit like filler. Repeat viewings after the finale will likely be easier to enjoy on their own merits. Of course, with 1.5 seasons of build-up, an awful lot is going to hinge on that finale. It’s likely going to be a spectacular episode, or a huge disappointment.

Just watched last week’s episode. It’s getting bit back to form. More focus on the relationship between Sean, Christian and Julia and less on the peripheral. Did they ever confirm who impregnated Julia? If it wasn’t Quentin, who was it?

Loved that Ariel is out of the picture. Sad that Quentin is gone, but as they have set him up to be this evil person the past few episodes, I can totally see the show making him the Carver. It’s the easy way out, but it looks like they rae going that way.

Previews show Liz being detained as the Carver and proclaiming her innocence as well as sexy, detective (why can’t I remember her name?) making a return appearance. Can’t wait for them to finally unmask the Carver!

They revealed that Sean was the one who knocked up Julia. Even though she didn’t go through with it I was amused that Julia was able to make an appointment to have an abortion for 7:30 PM on Christmas Eve.

Just when I was ready to call off the search party for Sean and Julia’s daughter they neglect her once again. Matt goes to have Christmas Eve dinner with Christian while Sean and Julia go off to get a Yuletide abortion. Child Protective Services really should have taken her away.

Next week does look good but I wonder if 2 hours is going to be stretching things too much for one show. The ads seems to really play up Liz or Quentin as the Carver which makes me think it won’t be either of them.

Is there a reason I’m missing that would exclude Gina from being the Carver? So far she hasn’t made an appearance since she had that scene with Kimber at the wedding.

I’m pretty sure that in the preview there is a clip of Quentin after a Carving under “I can’t stop” written in Blood on the Wall.
