I think my local gamestop is going to start blocking my phone calls if I don’t stop calling. EB got a delivery, but I unfortunately reserved all my games at GS.
Gamestop sold my last pre-order out from under me, so I’m done with those guys. Now I do the “drive all over town” method for all my gaming needs.
Just got back from Gamestop with Guitar Hero 2 and GEARS OF MOTHERFUCKING WAR! Call of Duty 3 has to wait until tomorrow. I’ll get back on later with impressions.
DAMN YOU! i have to call my work tomorrow and tell them I’m going to be late. I’m not going to mention WHY i’m going to be late, just that I’m going to be late so I can pick up my games when the store opens. I have to work till 8pm too…
Words can’t describe just how amazing this game is. If you don’t have a 360 yet, buy one just for this game. Look for me to be destroying assholes everywhere on Xbox Live (gamertag found below).
The controls are a bit wonky at first, but after an hour, they become second nature.
Also, is anyone else have problem with the mic? There seems to be only one person at a time I can talk to.

With no reviews the day before the game, I was almost sure this was gonna be another okay-but-not-that-great game like Perfect Dark. And I was gonna be able to wait another two months easy before my 360 purchase.

The day before the game, as in Monday before I went to sleep, there were no reviews nowhere. Nowhere. It was only today that all reviews started rushing in.
Conversely, FFXII had reviews two weeks prior to its release.

I know the feeling. Most hyped 360 game of the year, and suddenly reviews are everywhere one morning, all glowing. Pleasant suprize.

HOLY SHIT (you are going to hate me domingo).
This game fucking ROCKS. It totally lives up to the hype. I want to say after two hours of multiplayer goodness, that this might be the best XBL gaming I have had EVER. Clearly the most fun I have had since I was hardcore into halo 2.
Once, me slater and another buddy hoooked up things got very good. Even though we didn’t know the maps or the weapon placements having 2 ppl you knew did wonders. It made me feel much safer.
Singleplay is pretty fantastic. I satrted on hardcore…its tough. I am dying a lot.
Multiplayer…brilliant. the stop and pop gameplay works wonderfully because these maps are just so perfectly designed. I still don’t like having to mantle over low lying ledges, but other than that, the movement is very intuitive. Fighting up close and personal with opponents can be a little difficult though, and the chainsaw is like rolling the dice…sometimes the guy will just walk right through a shotgun blast.
Other than that, the game has just led to some amazing “moments”. i.e. I see my teammate running outside of the mansion in a firefight with a locust. I follow him and equip my shotgun, and just as my teammate is getting close to his last pull of the trigger, i roll up and blast the locust to pieces with my shotty.
The ability to flank makes for some tense situations also. On the tyro station (the train map) all of our team went up towards the train tracks, no one watched the backside for the opposing team members coming under the tracks. I took a quick peek back, and I saw two guys inching towards our backs. I yell to my team, and all 4 of us just unleash a barrage of machine gun fire on these two would be flankers. It was pretty awesome.
Phew…can’t wait to get back into this. emergence day is going to be dope.

…bullshit, utter bullshit. what kind of fuckhole operation are they running at Amazon? Pre-ordered the game yet they didn’t ship it out yesterday. Cancelled the order and will pick it up tomorrow if I can.
