Ok. I have been fucking stoked for this game. I have had some time off this week so I have been scouring the epic forums for footage of the game. The multiplayer stuff looks really really solid. I am very excited to try this out on Xbox Live.
The co-op over Live, with invite anytime capability is a great idea and gives the game more replayability.
The weapons (most of which haven’t been revealed yet) look fantastic.
They have the classic Epic levels of jibs and gore. Assault rifle with chainsaw. Close range shotgun blasts have been reported to blow up opponents in showers of guts and blood. A torque bow, which seems to have explosive abilities ala Rambo’s explosive tipped arrows in part III. An apparent rocket launcher. “grenade tagging” (melee with a grenade) seems to be an even better humiliation kill than the now famous chainsaw. “Curb stomping” apparently has a nice cinematic angle with possible (reported) slow mo cinematics when finishing off the last oppnonent in a versus game.
I just put some money down on it at gamestop where they confirmed NOvember 8th @ midnight availability of the game.
The guy there also said they recieved an email about a viewing party on 10/21. I think this might be the event that MS is planning at the hollywood cemetary, but I know we have gamestop employees here.
Here is some decent quality multiplay vids (with a terrible player) I have seen that arent already on IGN, gamevideos, or gamespot.
I reserved my copy yesterday at EB. I just worry since it’s coming out at such a terrible time that I won’t be able to fully immerse myself in the game like I’d want to.
the game is GORGEOUS. had a chance to play it at an cross promtion for gears and texas chainsaw:the beginning. they did a 10 min demo on the movie screen. got to play a little multi and it was fun. very squad-based. think brothers in arms and you’ve kind of got it(constant manuvering and flanking). too early to say it if will be a halo killer, but it was a lot of fun.
Cliffy B has confirmed on the EPIC forums that they are going to ship with 10 versus maps compared to the 8 maps they have been advertising.
I am very glad to hear that. All this downloadable content for 360 games is getting a little expensive, and the more I get in the actual disc the happier I am
Anyone know if the game is only on one disc? Cuz’ if it is, and it looks anywhere near as great as pc photos make it appear, the entire “DVDs aren’t big enough” argument will be eviscerated.
I just read a snippet which indicated there will be no loading times. Hallelujah! Oblivion had me a bit worried, but with Saints Row, Just Cause, and others featuring no loading screens I am becoming convinced that we have finally left that nightmare behind us.
I just preordered the collector’s edition…I hope that this is really just a fun, kickass shooter with super pretty eye-candy; if so, it really cannot disappoint. I am one of the (seemingly) few that found Halo to be just a fun, if not overlycomplicated game.
I expect nothing more than that from Gears of War…

Two small issues I have so far, with what I have seen…I don’t know if i am a huge fan of the symmetrical map design, and what is up with having to take cover behind a ledge before being able to leap over it. That is kind of lame.
Good God those graphics look phenomenal…and thats in Multiplayer!!!
EGM was talking about some of the multiplayer modes, of which there are very few apparently. Anyway, one of them is Execution mode. Only chainsaw, curbstomp and pistol to the head kills count as kills. Everything else is just collateral damage. I like the sound of that.

It looks like it happens in one fluid motion (at least in the video I watched - couldn’t access the above site), which isn’t to bad. He goes over the wall at about 1:35, but keep watching for the very cool grenade at the end.
