Bionic Woman (2007)

Yeah, the Blade Runner homage was bit obvious and the show was a bit boring, but again, I’ll give it a few more episodes.

The thing I have trouble believing is that the boyfriend dies from a single long-range gunshot to the shoulder after being unscathed in a multi-flipping car accident that caused the passenger to lose one arm, two legs and an eye.

They never explicitly said the boyfriend was dead.

I got half way through and had to turn it off. The lead actress is horrible.

I want Bionic Sister.

This episode isn’t much better, so far.

Except for Sarah and Jae.

That fight scene with the soldier was a bit… underwhelming. Was she holding back because she didn’t want the girl to see?

ETA: Nice BSG call-out, there.

So bad that it’s good territory, for sure.

I don’t think it’s so bad it’s good. I think it’s just uninteresting and unfocused. Maybe it will turn around as the season goes on but that’s a question for those with more perseverance than I. And while I love Sackoff’s character, she’s just not in it enough to make it worth watching.

Well, now that they’ve burned through most of the cliches, does this mean there might be a bit more originality in future episodes?

It’s illogical explanations for the ridiculous is what will keep me watching. At least for a while.

Also, $10 says that Jaime’s (do I have to spoiler code this?) elderly doctor fiance isn’t really dead. Especially with evil dad roaming free, now.

So does it feel like maybe the boyfriend isn’t dead? Maybe a little like Vaughn in Alias.

Definitely.

I noticed that same thing in the interrogation room. You have to imagine the conversation that Isaiah Washington had with the director before they filmed that scene. I’m sure it ended with the director exasperatedly saying, “Fuck it, fine.”

A big ol’ bowl of bland with a little bit of bland sprinkled on top with a side order of bland.

Wait, so the first episode ended with “I want to give this saving the world a shot.” Now the second episode begins with “leave me alone, I’m going back to work in my bar.”

I’m confused. And, unfortunately I am stuck watching this for the next fifty minutes.

***Halfway through. A few more questions:

1)Why would you need to exercise robotic/bionic limbs? I could see fight training, but pull-ups? Isn’t that a waste?
2)How could you spar with a normal person? If you can crush steel with your hand and break brick walls, you are not going to be able to spar effectively with some random dude, regardless of how skilled he is. It would be like a grown man learning karate by fighting two year olds.
3)How can actors say lines like “Cool car”, “I know.” “We work for a clandestine government agency dedicating to infilitrating and preventing rogue organizations from destroying civilization as we know it.” “I’ll call Haliburton” without wincing.

She’s even got herself a Dixon, and he hates the gays.

Wouldn’t JUST doing shit with the bionic arm cause the other arm to atrophy?

Unless they’re going to remake the episode where she has to protect the alien princess from the alien assassins by throwing cabbage at them in slow motion, I’m not watching.

Bingo.

I’m going to echo several other chewers’ sentiments by saying that Sackhoff’s emotional range, and character backstory, are far superior to the actual “bionic woman.”

I’m hoping I won’t be watching any more episodes of this.
