I think Tigh is going to kill Ellen. As for Slater’s theory concerning the Pegasus, I think it will get destroyed, but Lee won’t be on board. He’ll be in a Viper, shooting Cylon raiders. I don’t think they’ll kill off Lee because they’ll have to trade off the potential conflict he’ll have with Starbuck.
Well, there seemed to be a scene in the preview for next week that showed the Pegasus ramming into a basestar, so that could explains what happens.
As for the “take care of our son,” I was reading the Television Without Pity forums and there are two theories. Dualla says, “Take care of our admiral.” Now some say Helo replies, “Take care of his son,” which makes sense, but some swear it’s “Take care of our son,” to match it to “our admiral.” And when you recall that Apollo was a sun god, well, that gives it a whole new level of meaning.

I don’t think the Pegasus is going to be destroyed, because I don’t think they are going to kill off Lee. Having him conveniently off the ship when it goes up would be too much of a stretch for me. I didn’t catch the ramming shot from the trailer, so if thats the case maybe Lee orders a suicide run on a basestar, and the ship (and Lee) unexpectedly survive, albeit with heavy damage and heavy losses (perhaps even including Dualla.)
Also, is it possible for them to fake a draedus signature, make a ship appear larger or something?
An unnecessary fat suit that would be a major pain in the ass to apply all season long? Check.
A dramatic, tearful goodbye with Adama? Check.
Lee’s bravery and dedication to the fleet being called into question? Check.
They’re sure as shit setting Lee up to go out in a blaze of glory. Whether they’ll go through with it…who knows? The show definitely worked better before the Pegasus came along; I don’t know many fans who would argue on that point. Stripping them down to just the Galactica, throwing in a tragedy that would shake the two main characters (Adama and Starbuck) to the core…that’s good drama right there.
I’m not saying it wouldn’t be great; I’m just not sure they’ll go through with it. While you make good points for killing Lee off, I counter with…
They could jump forward a couple months and he would lose the weight.
If Adama lost Apollo, I don’t think Adama could go on. It’s not that Adama isn’t strong, but he would have lost both his sons.
Starbuck would miss Lee, but they’ve been apart for so long AND she has her own shit to deal with now that she has a kid (or at least she thinks she does) that it probably wouldn’t be as shattering if they had been together.
Also, it would be a tad repetitive. John Heard was the fat Pegasus commander last season who everyone hated and then he sacrifices himself heroically. Lee’s sacrifice would be more spectacular, but still a bit of a repeat.
I’m not saying it’s ain’t gonna happen, but I’m not convinced it is gonna happen.
I agree. I don’t see any reason to kill Lee off… at least not yet. Save it for the midseason or the season finale. As for Helen, I figure Tigh will ditch her on New Caprica with the Cylons. She’ll then get captured and have to be the Preacher Cylons new bang buddy.
Also, does anyone else think that not everyone will get off of New Caprica? I think that there will be plenty of humans left behind but they’ll get the majority. And I wonder if they will leave Starbuck and President Baltar behind as well?

Starbuck and Baltar are definitely getting left behind. It’s clear that Sam has no idea where Starbuck is or else he would have already tried to rescue her.

I dunno, I think Starbuck escapes back to Galactica with her daughter.
I think Tigh or the Chief will be the one to make a heroic sacrifice (maybe diffusing a nuke the cylons are planning to detonate on the surface). But Baltar will be left behind.
My guess is the scene with Roslin comes as the insurgents are fighiting the cylons on the ground. Ultimatly they have to take back Colonial One and she has him pushed out the door before they take off.
I think both Battlestars make it away safe but Pegasus is too bad off that they have to scuttle her.
Having Lee win the mission but lose the Pegasus would be similar to him losing the Blackbird but beating the Resurrection Ship, on a much much bigger scale. If they did that, I’d be curious to see where that takes his character, since it would have be to something else than what’s currently being written. I just don’t love mopey Lee yet (or mommy Starbuck, for that matter.)
Everything else is aces. All the scenes with Cylons are flat out great.
That was some interesting plotting in the 1st act. Some serious sleight of hand.
Re: Lee.
I don’t think they’ll kill off Lee. He’s the one main character who is not special. He’s not a prophecy girl (like Roslin - also the leader of the human race - or Starbuck), he’s not the father/leader of the military, he’s not a cylon (i’m not saying he can’t be, but as of right now, he’s not), he’s not the “traitor” that put everything into motion.
He’s just the person who is caught up in everything else going on around him. I’d almost go so far as to say that he’s the character designed for us to empathize with the most - our proxy. If you’ll allow me to mix fandoms, Lee is like the Xander of BSG.
With that being said, I’ve been rewatching S1 and early S2 and I miss the old Lee. The one who stood up for what he believed in, who took action even if he was going against the odds or military codes of conduct, etc. Who reacted emotionally and struggled with trying to place those emotions to the side to get the job done.
I love how season three has been playing out (after that lull in 2.5), but I think it’s going to feel even more complete when Lee gets his head out of his ass and gets back to being himself, instead of mopey emo-boy. The last few eps showed him taking steps in that direction, what with confronting Papadama about the survival of the human race and him questioning the plans that were being laid to recover the people on New Caprica.
I’m looking foward to see how RDM and Eick bring him back into the fold.
Geez, it’s going to be fabulous to have everyone together again. I miss it. I miss all the interactions. I’m enjoying this storyline, but I really want the gang all back together again.
I have just seen Exodus Pt.1. And I agree with what Moore said in the podcast. For an episode where not much happens it was pretty good. The writers did a good job. When the shit hits the fan in Pt. 2 it’s going to be great.
Now as for Lee dying. It’s possible but not very probable. Although other than Admiral Adama and Roslin everyone is fair game. I hope that everyone, alive that is, gets back together soon. I really like the way the characters play of each other and all this separation business hurts the show a little.
It’d be interesting if Starbuck’s “daughter” turned out to be a previously unrevealed Cylon model. Though I’m not sure how feasible that would be, as far as using such a young child actor in such a potentially layered role. Plus, kids grow, etc. I agree that the whole Starbuck story, so far, leaves me underwhelmed compared to everything else.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tigh got killed, but I’d miss his unrelenting saltiness.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Lee eventually outlived Adama.
And Starbuck’s kid is probably a current Cylon model specifically grown to be a kid.
