Anyone on here seen it? Like it love it hate it?
As for me i like it alot. It has that OC style word play and a great plot that has to be finished
The girl is hot. But I don’t care too watch it.
You know I actually really enjoyed it. ON the surface it really looks like a chick show, but it has some great characterization already, and a great hook to the plot that makes me want to come back to it. Tuesdays at 9 dont work, but MTV is rerunning episodes on Tuesdays at 7 so I will tivo those.
Very impressed overall. It has a slight buffy vibe to it, but it definitely has its own voice. The idea of a high school girl being a private eye requires a little stretching of the imagination, but it works. The dad is very entertaining also.
So, is it Twin Peaks-y, like I’ve heard it was? Or were they just taunting me?
No, I wouldn’t call it Twin Peaks like at all. More like the OC meets an old school private eye series. I got a real kick out of it. The bad guys are real heavyweight assholes and the girl playing Veronica is great at the tough girl act and delivering that dead-pan Raymond Chandler dialogue and naming her trained attack dog Back Up was cute. My only complaint was I thought people kept saying her name too many times: “Well, if it isn’t Veronica Mars.” “Hello, Veronica Mars.” “Veronica Mars crying?” The show is trapped on UPN, the network that makes the WB look good in comparisson, so it’s totally doomed.
I agree…the show is obviously on the surface trying to appeal to the OC crowd because it features a similar situation, lower class girl trying to fit in with a bunch of rich kids (and a biker gang apparently), but the real crux of the show is in the detective portion. So its like the OC meets Columbo or something like that.
I watched the first 20 minutes or so, and was turned off by the voice over. And, yes, I get that it’s a staple of the detective genre this show is attempting, but I thought it was poorly done and lazy.
I liked the voiceover. It was surprisingly effective, considering it was coming from a teenage girl. Very promising show.
Out of all the shows that I watched Wednesday ( Lost, Smallville, CSI:NY), this is the one I enjoyed the most. That kind of suprised me, but I think that it has a good chance of sticking around for a few seasons. There were a lot of angles that hooked me in, so I’ll watch again next week. Just remember that it’s on Tuesday’s starting next week!
I really enjoyed this. Easily my favourite new show this year.
Hopefully with UPN having no other good shows, it might get enough of a push to make it more than one season.

Okay, if we’re going to get really specific, I’d say the detective half reminded me more of The Rockford Files (maybe the best PI show ever) than Columbo.
Caught the rerun tonight on MTV and watched the second episode just now. Consider me a fan. As for a Twin Peaks vibe, next week seems to be touching on that…slightly.
I watched it last night. Not bad. Nothing I’m going to be addicted to, but it makes a good companion piece to Gilmore Girls if I decide to watch TV on Tuesday. I like the ongoing mystery thing, and I like the universe wherein the popular kids (football team?) are like a gang of criminals or something.
Just caught the first two episodes (thanks to CHUD regular Cesar) and I enjoyed them. It’s a good show that looks like it can get better and better. How many episodes do you think it will last? 6?
I like it a lot. I finally got to see the second episode last night, which was pretty good, but not as good as the first episode. The main story arc seems pretty good (the Lilly Cain murder) and I’m actually pretty interested in seeing Veronica solve it, but the rest of the stuff is pretty good too. Most of the characters are pretty realistic and I just enjoy seeing them all in action. After Lost, this is definitely my second favorite new show of the season.
Damnit, I forgot to set my VCR for it this week. Guess it’s off to Torrent Search for me.

It was a repeat of last week’s episode so you didn’t miss anything. Up until last night TiVo reported it as a new episode and then a couple of hours before it switched to a repeat. I guess Cheney and Edwards scared them away from showing a new episode.

Hmm, they taped 7 episodes I think. Not sure that it even got a 13 episode order. I’m betting on 5 before they yank it.
Sad really, it’s got a lot of potential and I like it more than I thought I would.

This show might end up like Wonderfalls, a quality, quirky offering missed out on by Joe and Jane Public. If it does get cancelled, hopefully they’ll put out a DVD set like Wonderfalls. But it’s far too early for those of who like the show to give up hope, no?

Considering the afforementioned Wonderfalls got cancelled within 3 episodes, I’d argue it’s never too early. I like this show, but goddamnit, I’m used to the curse of at least one genre show I get into being cancelled before the seasons up, and i get the feeling that curse is gonna fall on Veronica Mars this time around.
