I told you. Man, I bought this DVD on Dec 23 and by Christmas night, I was finished and digging into the extras. Are these extras not pretty fucking cool for a television show DVD?
I wish they’d done commentary on every ep like last season. Those were some of the best commentaries I’d ever heard. Hey, do they have a little season sum up, get ready for next season thing like the end of season 1? Where Ryan and Chickless are standing, at what looks like the zoo, and say some amusing comments? I thought that was great. “Where in Macky finds God, treats perps with more respect…”

I think Danny will be brought back by Wyns as a detective. I think there was a lot of forshadowing of the switch when she helped Dutch with his case. Dutch will need a new partner now that Wyns has moved up the ladder.
I also really like the development of Julian’s character. A gay man who does not want to be gay. I don’t think I have seen that before and it is a very fresh and interesting storyline to develop.
The entire money train went down well too. The looks on everyones faces as they looked at the money - I think - forshadowed regret at some level and that should play out well as one of them might become a little less reliable and dangerous to the team as a result (my vote is Lemonhead). - I am guessing Dutch will investigate the case and if Danny is his new partner (and her relationship with Vic strained) it will make for a good dynamic
I also really like the addition of Tavon. I was not sure how I would like a new member, but he grew on me fast. I really hope he is on the level with Vic and does not turn out to be a snitch, because I think he has a lot of potential on the same level as Shane and Vic. Although, with Shane as a racist, it will be some interesting interplay as well.

Shane is a stinkin scumbag. Vic has a dirty harry kind of vibe where he at least has a sense of social responsibility. Shane is in it for the money and the pussy and has little remorse for his crimes.
I love the character of Wyms overall, she knows what’s right and she’s not the slimy politican that David was. She’s out to nail Vic and I don’t blame her. You all do remember they fucked her investigation into the child raper right? If I were on the trail of that fuck and someone stepped in the way, I’d be on their ass too. Vic’s easy to root for, but he’s done some fucked up shit.
Tulips was a cool girl.
She was the chick Shane reamed in the interogation room.
And I don’t think Corrine is a bitch. She’s just trying to get away from her crazy stalker cop soon to be ex husband. I mean, can you imagine being married to Vic? His team members are being attacked at home due to being greenlit by some local drug lord child rapist. I’d get the hell outta there too. It’s just not safe around him and when he starts stalking her, even he realizes he crossed the line.
I don’t know if I would call it stalking. He wanted to know where his kids were. He wanted to see his kids. Any dad would want that.
Yes, Shane is a piece of shit, but I really like him. I think he is one of the characters that makes the show really interesting. He is a lit fuse but is so well rounded and unstable.
The only member of the team I don’t care for is Ronnie. He is just there and pretty boring. Shane is electric, Lemonhead is pretty cool most the time and Tavon looks to be really interesting. And Vic is Vic.
I also don’t think Danny was getting annoying. Her life was falling apart before her eyes because of the woman who was terrorizing her. She was being pushed hard to the edge. I just am dissapointed that the conflict between them was dropped with no resolution and no mention of it again.

I never heard anything of this, but it’s possible that they could have taken some of that footage and used it in the episode.
I highly doubt it, though.
we had a huge argument over whether or not “the flashback” was the original pilot episode. I forget who it was, but one poster had some definitely concrete information verifying that yes this was Ryan’s original pilot.
The fact that the old crotchety detective was in the barn and was never seen since is pretty good proof as to why this is the original pilot.
I haven’t read this entire thread because I just started the DVD’s of Season 2. All I can say is that I was blown away by the first 2 episodes and then what do I get for episode 3? Carl Weathers! What an awesome show!
Awesome show. Recently picked up the first season on DVD.
Favourite moment is when Dutch caught the serial killer.

From then on, Dutch became cool.

Is Vic Mackey, in your eyes, right or wrong? Sure he’s done some messed up things, but his heart is in the right place and he gets results. Discuss!

hmmm, he is wrong in the broad sense of the word. Screw, it - he is wrong because he is a criminal. At the heart of it, he is like a lot of the people that he is trying to bring down. That makes him a hypocrit.
BUT
His heart is in the right place when it comes to a lot of things. He has no tolerence for anyone who tries to hurt children. He has no tolerence for men who senselessly hurt women. He is ok with drugs as long as they are kept out of the hands of children and only dealt to concenting adults. It seems that as long as the crime is involving two concenting adults and does not actually hurt anyone (ie, selling drugs, prostitution) than he does not have a huge problem with it.
Also, he is trying to clean himself up (except for the money train, which is really just stealing from criminals to begin with).
The exception is his violence. He killed a cop to protect himself. That is unforgivable. His violence towards criminals (burning the face of a man who raped a young girl) I can live with.
Reminds me of this Dirty Harry/Star Wars thread in the Franchises forum.
Great DVD, and I think the show does it right sticking to 3 shows a season. Its flaws would become much more apparent otherwise.
I think Vic Mackey, like Tony Soprano, has done some horrible things but the great thing about the show is that you like him anyway. He has his own code of ethics which often conflicts with what the rest of the world says is okay.
I just watched the episode where he has to blow the face off of the corpse. “Don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing.”
