From what I have gathered, the "exclusive new tracks from Interpol, Jem, and The Arcade Fire were written specifically for this soundtrack.
Wow. I completely underestimated how much I love this show. Going into this, I thought the SFU had run its course and I was glad they were putting it to bed. As soon as the opening credits ran, however, I immediately felt giddy and excited.
Great episode. Every storyline is good so far (well, I could do without Rico’s). Ruth realizing her life has gone to shit was pretty hard to watch, particularly transposed next to Brenda who thinks her life has gone to shit, but really she has her whole life ahead of her. David proving how much he really loves Keith by wanting to give him what he wants was touching, and Claire’s self-absorbed art chick chic is a spot on impersonation of every art kid I knew in college. It was great to see Lisa making an appearance, as was seeing my favorite art teacher, Olivier!
i enjoy this show as well, and have since day 1 / season 1… mostly because i really enjoyed Krause in ‘sports night’… and the fact that it was coming from alan ball… i had cancelled hbo and all the other premium chans that come with it several months ago and had planned to skip this season and wait for the dvds.. but around 4:30 yesterday i made the call, and had it turned back on… at least until sfu is done…
a pretty depressing episode overall… george, while suffering some memory loss, really seems.. ok.. but ruth seems dead set on treating him otherwise (i have pitty for her, but it seems she’s kind of begging for it)
i’d like to see brenda happy for more than half an episode… i’m sure she’ll slip back into her old ways… the scene between her and lisa was pretty good… made me want to kill someone who was already dead
claire bugs me… she always seemed very atypical in the earlier seasons but now… is just the opposite.. it’ll be interesting to see if billy slips back into his old, less-than-sane, ways… “but i never tried to carve the tattoo out of someone’s ass” … ahh, classic nate
i don’t mind rico’s story… it’s rather light in comparison, but that’s not a bad thing for this show, in small doses
Above-average setup episode for this season. Was it just me, or did Brenda’s mom seem very much not herself in this episode? Ya know, not crazy? She genuinely seemed worried about Brenda’s well-being.
Billy will most definitely slip back into his nuttiness, probably to give his art career a little jolt, and it’ll be up to Claire to try and control him, while getting Nate and David to stay out of it.
I really hope David and Keith end up with a girl. If they get a boy, he’s screwed.
George will die, no doubt. Probably suicide.
Rico’s storyline isn’t so bad, especially if it involves the cute chick from the US Office. Too bad she seems to already be gone…
I wonder how Bettina, Russell, and Ruth’s sister will factor in this season.
I’m really gonna miss this show when it’s gone. Only 11 more episodes, man.

See, I’m trying to peg the over/under on when Billy kills the entire Fischer family. And poor, poor Nate. That miserable fuck can’t catch a break.
David and Keith have had the most functional relationship on the show for quite some time.
I’m not saying Rico’s storyline is bad. I just don’t really care about it. The show is about the Fischer’s and he takes screentime away from them. I really couldn’t care less wheteher Rico gets back together with his wife or not.
Oh, and the opening death was brutal. My roomate, who is beyond squemish, screamed when they showed the poker sticking in the chick’s eye.
yea, even though i know its ALWAYS coming (the exception w/ nate’s "death" it always has me on the edge of my seat… and my wife hates it
i love how her argument was that he didn’t care about her/that he’s self-centered.. and when she gets the poker in the eye.. he’s all.. “ohhh woeeee… how can you do this to me!?” lol
does the reassurance of Maya’s parentage from a dead person count? they seemed be angling the story toward that end what with the wedding video tape, the whole adoption storyline, and then the miscarriage.
Great episode. I can’t figure one thing out, though. Did anyone else catch that the woman who died in the opening died in the year 2004? It said on the title card 1969-2004. What’s up with that?
I like how they just jumped right back into things and always enjoy the “what if” dream sequences and the confrontations the main characters have with the dead around them.
I am looking forward to seeing how things progress in this final season and how they will wrap things up.
Anyone catch Monday’s ep? I think this show is just going all out for its final season. Some really good stuff happened.
I love David’s hallucinations. They are absolutely over-the-top and a perfect way to showcase his mental state.
Claire is going to have her hands full now that Billy stopped taking his meds, but not until they party a little bit.
Brenda leaving the free clinic after a day sucked. I thought she’d be stronger than that. But it is consistent with her acting more together than she really is.
Nate conversing with his high school friend and actually coming to terms with where he is in life was nice considering all the crazy shit that has happened to him over the years. I hope he has some happy times.
Ruth has got to come to terms with her life with George or she’ll go nuts. Actually, I think she’s nuts already, but she can’t go on living so wound up. Her sister or Bettina needs to pay a visit and slip her some Ecstasy.
I can’t believe Rico didn’t know he was getting dumped. I guess he let himself fall for her a little too fast. I think that probably freaked her out. That and George barging in on their make-out session.

Rico’s just a big ol’ loser. First getting dumped, then not knowing he was dumped, then calling the hospitals, then entering her apartment, then telling Vanessa that she died either to keep from looking like a joke, or for sympathy, or both. Man, just kill yourself.

Until reading your post, I’d forgotten she was even on the show. She was that crazy enbalmer lady who talked about sex and other “innappropriate” topics in front of the corpses, right? She was hired right before the creepy guy that Ruth hooked up with, I believe.
the writers seem to be going all out this season - the last 2 episodes have been pretty solid - short of claire and her mom getting on my nerves… for someone who doesn’t seem overly spoiled, claire can sure act like a brat…
glad they finally showed george break down - for the first 1.5 hours of the season I thought Ruth was just being a bitch/feeling sorry for herself…
another solid episode imo… claire & ruth still annoy the piss out of me… claire more so than ruth… it seems claire is getting less and less mature as she gets older…

Billy is going ape-shit batty. I can’t believe Claire doesn’t see the storm coming. Anyone who changes their personality that dramatically obviously has issues.
I didn’t like the turnaround with Brenda’s teacher. Last week she’s yelling at Claire, now they are best friends? And Nate seems to be a non-entity this season. I guess after last season he deserves a rest, but I do wish he had a little more to do.
I can’t stand Ruth and George’s storyline. It’s too depressing. (I know that bizarre considering the nature of the show.)
Keith and David’s surragate seems a little crazy. She’ll cause trouble down the line.
It would have been nice to have a setup episode prior to this explosion, but it was definitely gripping. Nate seems doomed to me. Is there any way that the season could end with him coming to grips with anything at all and it actually feel legitimate?
