Well, the new season of SFU starts up on March 2nd, and I couldn’t be happier. Six Feet Under is my second favorite show on television (right behind the soon-to-end Oz).
Has anyone seen the comercials for the new season? From the ones I have seen on HBO, and the ones I have heard on the radio, my guess is that, as a result of Nate’s emergency surgery at the end of last season, he will be in some sort of a coma for most of the season. His soul will be roaming around the other characters, trying to figure out if he should live or die, and towards the end of the season, he will decide it’s not time to die, and he will wake up.
Alright, forget the previous post. Completely. Upon viewing the trailer for season 3 on HBO.com, I have been proven completely wrong, as usual. Oh well.

My mom and I are devotees of the show and look forward to the return of the Fishers with great fervor. Frances Conroy (Ruth) was born in a town about 20 miles from my home.
Yeah, I am all set for Sunday night. The reviews are absolutely praising the first five episodes as being more in line with the first season (philisophical and spiritual pondering) - rather than the sometimes soap opera-ish second season.

I heard a rumor that “a major character was going to die” in the first episode or so. I didn’t think anything of it as when most rumors of that actually happen, it’s really some side character, like a sister of a main character.
Well, the NY Post had a tibit where the gossip columnist was interviewing Rachel Griffith and her real-life hubby about various things. The columnist asked about Brenda, and Griffith’s husband blurts, “Oh she dies.” He quickly covered himself after that. It could be just a joke. But based on the first rumor I’ve heard, it seems plausible. I hope its not true. I like Brenda.

In the recent TV Guide, there’s a big article on the new season, and when mentioning Nate having to deal with fatherhood, in parentheses following that note, it says a huge bobshell is dropped in the first episode…so maybe Nate & Lisa’s kid dies.
I too found it odd that he and Lisa were just living together happily with the baby, but he did say something about “seven months later and not a problem in the world.”
Enjoyed seeing Catherine O’Hara and Kathy Bates will begin tenure next week. I think we haven’t seen the last of Brenda, as Rachel Griffiths is still listed in the credits.
This was a decent episode after the initial opening, but that is all the better, as that means we will get some really great episodes in the coming weeks.
Oh, the “HBO Buzz” thing that came on after this talked about the SFU premiere in NYC and Alan Ball said all he could say was that there definitely be more sex, death and weirdness this season.

Good to hear cuz this premeire was a little boring for me. Not that I’m complaining. I’m so happy this show is back on.

– Brenda returning and upsetting Nate’s “happy” life
– Continued strife between Lisa and Ruth over the baby
– Lisa just being nuts. I think she was emotionally unstable last season but her outburst over the peanut butter leads me to belive she will flip soon
– Frederico asserting his new “power” as partner in the business
– David and Keith’s relationship problems
– Something has got to be wrong with Claire’s new boy. She always picks the fucked up guys.
– Speaking of which, Billy will probably return
– Do you think we’ve seen the last of Gabe? Or the Russian guy Ruth was dating?
I actually believed Nate was dead, right up until his ‘funeral,’ when he complained about not being cremated.
It was very odd seeing so many things changed, with Nate’s new positive outlook, the new characters (Lisa’s boss, Claire’s boyfriend-d-jour - love that tattoo), Nate being married to Lisa, of all people, Brenda’s absence (albeit only temporary I’m sure), Frederico’s new position as partner (and his new attitude as well). The only things that haven’t really changed are the David/Keith situation, and Ruth’s caring for Maya. Overall, this was a good, albeit very short, episode.
with regards to the rest of the season, Billy will most definitely be back, along with the entire Chenowith family. I don’t think we’ll be seeing Gabe anymore. Claire already has a boyfriend at the moment, and when that fails (we all know it will), she’s got that guy in her art class. When Brenda resurfaces, I actually see Nate asking her to take him back, to escape from Lisa’s sudden craziness.
