Shia LaBeouf jumps ship from Broadway debut

Less than a month before previews begin, it’s the ol’ “creative differences” excuse. Considering we’re talking about LaDouche and Alec Baldwin was the co-star, anything’s possible.

If anyone has links to gossip, inside scoops, or just plain ol’ dirt… PLEASE POST THEM!

Must be some serious “creative differences” after going that far for the role.

I hope he didn’t decapitate Baldwin the way he did Tom Hardy.

Apparently, he and Baldwin didn’t mix well. But everyone apologized to each other via email and made nice. How do we know this? Because LaDouche posted all the emails on Twitter.

There was a time Nic Cage was this radical and self-important too. Having teeth removed for Birdy, eating cock roaches for Vampire’s Kiss. He was a loon.

Then he made Con Air, and he was alot of fun for a while.

I wish I had such a comfy life that I could quit a job if I didn’t get along with a coworker.

Hey, loon he may be but at least Cage had a Raising Arizona on his resume before winning an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas. What does LaBeouf have? Except for youth and trillions of dollars?

I’d take “Vampire"s Kiss” over “Con Air”. Pauline Kael said there was genius in that performance. I agree.

Hmmm, some other films/performances I’d take over Con Fucking Air.

Valley Girl

Birdy

Raising Arizona

Peggy Sue Got Married

Moonstruck

Wild At Heart

Honeymoon In Vegas

Red Rock West

Leaving Las Vegas

Fuck Bruickheimer.

“But having to choose between the two of you which one to stay and which one to go, I went with Alec. Sorry Shia old buddy.”

BTW, Labeouf’s hour long audition for the play.

Well yeah, his acting was always great, but his Con Air era is when his stopped being so method and self-important.

He didn’t insist on actually having John Travolta’s face transplanted on his skull for Face Off. Vampire’s Kiss era Nic Cage would have.

I heard he actually wanted to blow up Randell “Tex” Cobb with a grenade in Raising Arizona though.

Good news: You can get it in rubber now.

(With an order of two they throw in a bonus Newton-John.)

An angel comes to the rescue…

Can we get some of Ben Foster’s e-mails published on twitter.

Alec Baldwin responds to a Shia Labeouf tweet that, “The theater belongs not to the great but to the brash”.

AI think I have to get Shia’s back on this, since he has a well liked actor - an actor who some might say made many bad choices over the course of his career - coming out against him here. Baldwin’s garden is a perfectly valid approach to theater, I don’t doubt, but for this rather aged thespian to insist that there is one way and one way only to approach the stage, well that I have to take with a grain of salt. I get the feeling that Shia is simply too ‘real’ (for lack of a better word) for today’s media environment. He isn’t a plasticine person and so he gets hammered when someone like Bieber (who might as well be called ‘Idoru’) is rewarded for his empty flash and posse that includes Kanye & the Kardashians.

I like Shia. He reminds me of a young Tom Cruise. He is definitely one of the most naturally charismatic performers of his generation, if nothing else. He takes acting seriously, and I have to give him the benefit of the doubt on a call like this.

Nicolas Cage did not have Labeouf’s star power in the 80s. I mean, what evidence bears out the “self-important” claim?

I can’t recall another young actor with talent (and The Beef does have talent) Death Starring his career so quickly and effectively.

He pisses off Spielberg and probably Michael Bay with his shitty comments on Indy 4 and Transformers (yeah the comments on Indy were innocuous but by Hollywood standards they were a kick in the balls to a very important patron). He shit talks Oliver Fucking Stone on the followup to one of his best films (and I actually like Wall Street II though it’s not as good as the first, mostly I think because Stone is now ambivalent about Wall Street). Then the “fights” in bars. Now this.

Thank God Tom Sizemore is sober, else we might see a new Sex Tape co-Starring Sizemore & The Beef.

Tom Sizemore is on the wagon again? CAST HIM IN EVERYTHING!

… I have an unhealthy affection for Sizemore.

I’m actually kinda sad about the Beef’s fall. I could have seen him on a Tom Hanks trajectory, but his ego is getting the better of him.

Today’s AV Club:

AV Club interviewed Sizemore just today. EDIT: Blast!

LaBeouf The Goof posted more emails. This seems like a good way to get people to never correspond with him again.
