Translating the bold parts:
Please Warner Brothers, just make an Alec Baldwin-starring Dark Knight Returns movie and work this quasi-All-Star exchange into it.
Really? The guy is a douche. And I use to lie him. He talks bad about Spielberg, Bay, talks about sex with Megan Fox while she was with BAG, and Mia Wasikowska wanted off Lawless because Shia was mental. And now this. All these things you have to think he’s the problem.
You and your generations!
Anne Hathaway is the greatest female Tom Cruise of Shia’s generation.
What’s her Thetan level?
As a long time Indy fan and a long time Oliver Stone fan, I appreciate Shia keeping it real about those projects. Shia’s scenes with Brolin (and Langella) were the highlights of Wall Street 2, and weirdly enough, Shia was the best part of ‘Crystal Skull’. As for commenting on Megan Fox, it seems that he mentioned they were involved only for the interviewer to then point out that she was married at the time. Shia wasn’t bragging, just being honest. If Megan Fox is unfaithful, that’s on her, not Shia. She’s an adult too.
I’d not heard about the Mia Wasikowska thing, but I like her so it’s too bad if she felt out of her element on set with Shia.
I tend to prefer to rank performers (or people and things in general) by generation.
Take a look at your avatar and re-read McNooj’s comment. Methinks you missed his joke.
Ah-ha! That really is quite clever. Good work, McNooj and thanks Mr. Saxon for pointing it out.
See, there’s this thing called “Tact”. It’s why one doesn’t tell his Aunt that she’s a fat disgusting pig to her face. To do so doesn’t make one all “hip and keeping it real”, it makes one a Douche (with a capital D).
Shia copping to affairs with married women isn’t “keeping it real” either. It’s being cruel and dis-respectful to the women involved as well as their families.
As for Shia’s comments about Indy 5 and Wall Street, I actually think he gave somewhat measured assessments of both (based on the comments I’ve read). Thing is, anyone who saw either film has an opinion on it. It serves no purpose to publicly slam the films, the cast or especially the Directors. You know, the people who specifically asked you to star in the films.
If I were a Director in Hollywood or anywhere else really, I’d have to weigh Shia’s talent against the knowledge that 1) he would engage in Drama on my set 2) would likely bad mouth my film 3) is now perceived by the public as a douche. With so many really talented people struggling to achieve recognition in the Film business, why would I (as a Director) bother with someone like that?
EDITED TO ADD: I agree with you about Shia in Wall Street 2: in Indy 5 I think he had great chemistry with Harrison Ford.
She didn’t feel out of her element. Shia drank Moonshine on set. He was drunk, crazy, and scary on set. He brought a hunting knife to the set of Orphans that freaked Alec out(also punching a wall) and dropped acid on another movie.
It’s a losing cause to defend Shia at this point. Seems to me he thinks “being real” is the only way to go.
And putting the blame on Fox-Shia should have kept his mout shut. They didn’t want Fox on Transformers 3 but they sure used her name to promote it.
Saxon is actually MUCH to kind to my ‘wit.’ Harford missed nothing! I wasn’t even thinking about the Picard image. Just Harford’s frequent use of classifying by generations.
…
I MEAN, DUH! OBVIOUSLY YOU MISSED IT!!!
WIT IT SHIT! FUNNY IS MONEY!
I love how this thread is going. And thankfully, Shia seems game to keep feeding it with his hustling antics.
He needs to be a subject on George Carlin’s Asshole, Jackoff, Scumbag!
You all can play along at home! Is LaBeouf an asshole, a jackoff, or a scumbag? (AUDIENCE APPLAUSE)
God damn! Now I feel like some sort of crazy guy that runs around Forum Boulevard, pointing at thin air and yelling “Can you see them? Can you see the McNooj jokes? They’re there, I tell you!!!” at passing pedestrians.
I believe we’ve done this before, but how is it not transparently clear that LaDouche cares way more about being perceived as some sort of mythic badass actor/warrior poet than he does about acting? I can just see the college freshman bookshelf he’s basing his persona off of, with all the books by Kerouac and Hunter S Thompson and Bukowski prominently displayed, so you can really tell how seriously he takes himself.
Motherfucker has no theater credits! Baldwin has been appearing on the Broadway stage since the 80s, playing Macbeth and shit. Coming in to rehearsal unmemorized is actually a decision some actors find useful for their process, and its usually regarded as such, especially when the actor in question is a Tony nominee. Considering Douche has, as I said, zero theater credits, perhaps he’s in less of a position to bitch than you’re giving him credit for. Maybe he could, I don’t know, stand to learn something, being as he’s a neophyte to the art form and is 26 years old.
That said, there’s really no end to the stories about Baldwin acting like an ass in public. I don’t doubt he acted like an ass here. But I don’t care that much, because Baldwin has on his resume 30 Rock, The Departed, Miami Blues, Beetlejuice, Glengarry Glen Ross, Malice, The Cooler, The Edge, The Aviator, The Hunt for Red October and probably a dozen more performances I really enjoyed him in. Shia, on the other hand, wasn’t that bad in Indy IV, according to some people, I guess.
I’ll give you that Shia can act. He’s not great, but he’s got basic competence. He’s nowhere near other people from his generation (Joseph Gordon Levitt, off the top of my head, smokes him utterly), but he’s better than, I don’t know, Taylor Lautner. But how in the fuck do you find him charismatic at this point? I don’t know if there’s a single movie star I have less sympathy for. The entire story of this guy in unearned arrogance.
On the plus side, I kind of wanted to go see Orphans and now there’s no reason not to.

I’m pretty much waiting for the ‘I’m making a performance-art mockumentary with Casey Affleck’ announcement any time now.
What?? That article seems to base it’s entire theory that LeBeouf was “trolling” on the fact that LeBeouf didn’t ask producers for free tickets. That makes absolutely no sense given the circumstances LeBeouf left the play. He paid his way to the show and wasn’t disruptive. Fuck these gossip sites.
You could really view that event in a good or bad light. He may have sincerely intended to support the production (and himself of course), but did it in a ham fisted way. Or, he may have intended to pysch out the cast (good luck trying that with a Baldwin). Who can say for sure? Perhaps Dr Harford will meet up with Shia, stare into his dreamy eyes, and find out the truth!
AI expect he’ll be seated next to me in the front row at the first showing of “Transformers 4.”
