The ep started off kinda slowly, but picked up. A few more shows into the season and it oughta be rolling as usual. The ‘Juanita’ gag rocked quite a bit with a great pay off minutes later.
It did start out a little slowly but I loved it. Kelso is always the highlight of the show for me. I guess I have terrible memory but I thought that Elliot was pregnant.
“I’ve got Underwood right now. It’s funny, because it’s true.”
“My brother was killed by a funky cole medina.”
“I punched a whale. Went down like Liston.”
Welcome back, best show ever.

I thought this was a pretty funny episode, but not as great as this show’s been in the past. I did like the “mirror images,” with McGinley, Braff, and Flynn playing the patients. Like “My Way Home”, the makeup was effective enough that you didn’t catch it at first, until it became important. I just thought fake Braff was a really ugly woman, or that the twist was going to be she used to be a man.

Amen brother, amen. Cox spaghetting his kid slayed me as well. As a soon to be father, the incredible amount of pregnancy made the episode rather close to home too. I have to say, a perfect world would probably involve infinite new episodes of this show.
Watching NBC’s entire lineup, I have to say “Scrubs” might be my least favorite. Still a great time, though- I cracked up, but not as many times as I did with the other programs. Where was Tobias? When you’ve got the Blue Man Group, you’re just being cheeky.
Coxy needs a haircut.
EDIT: oh, he seems to have gotten one between scenes.
Janitor in old man make-up is great. JD as woman, just creepy.
The “I’m carry-ing Underwood right now” line was just great, and while it was on the very edge of being a terrible joke, the whole N’Sync thing became worthwhile when Kelso joined in.

Not to mention, it was some swell product placement from NBC. If the new Samsung cell is good enough for Turk Turkleton, it’s good enough for me.
I found I have the urge to buy pop rocks.
I missed this and NBC only has the worthless “two-minute replay” of the episode on its site instead of the full episode. You suck, NBC.
I have to say, if you missed the episode then it is not NBC that sucks but YOU.

“Cool! Swamp Thing!”
Any show that has a little kid repeating “My mommy had an abortion”, is alright in my book. Also, Kelso telling Jack his shirt looked gay was great.
I thought tonight’s was really sweet, but part of me was wishing that J.D. and Liz decided not to keep the baby. I thought that would have been a nice dramatic counterpoint to all the baby-friendly action. That, and the fact that neither of them seem ready or all that hot on having a kid.

I was surprised when they decided to keep the baby. I thought it would be a Scrubs thing to do by slipping in the counter-point of an abortion.

I think the show could’ve taken a turn for more interesting ground plotwise by either having Turk’s son be born with autism or JD opting for an abortion. Did anyone else think right after seeing the commercials that some sort of tragedy was on hand?

Season 5’s finale was shot on HD and actually became the first network show to do all their online editing with Final Cut Studio, but in the end the producers felt that the show’s “look” just didn’t suit the process.
These new episodes are great, but the first one was kinda clunky pacing-wise (anyone else feel the opening was oddly rythem-less?) and the second episode found the groove and had me rolling on more than one occassion (especially Laverne’s Jesus statue), but it wasn’t quite back to firing on all cylinders again. The first few episodes of every season are always the weakest links (and by weak I mean “really good” where the rest of the season tends to be in the “fucking fantastic” spectrum)–it’s almost like the writers have to do a wind up before pitching some real zingers. Normally by the third episode we’re back into comedy gold land, so Thursday can’t come fast enough.
That said, I’m really liking how Keith is becoming a more rounded member of the cast rather thank the lunkhead punchline. But then again, taking thin characters and turning them into deep wells of comedy is Scrubs’ speciality (Ted, Doug, The Todd, etc.)
