New season of Scrubs begins Jan 3rd!! For the month of January, NBC will air back to back new episodes on Tuesdays (9-9:30 and 9:30-10). Why double the episodes? I think because the Winter Olympics being in February and that will mess up the prime time lineup.
Anyone else pick up the Season 2 DVD set? Just as good as Season one.

It’s probably going to have double episodes because NBC is a collection of morons and seemingly forgot to schedule Scrubs for the fall (no idea why they dropped it, nor have they given one). I still don’t know why NBC seems intent on hiding this show from people–it could be a huge ratings hit if they’d just give an ounce of the marketing push that it gives to crap like Surface, and stop fucking with its schedule.
Two new episodes a week of the best show on TV doesn’t bother me much, though. I can’t wait.

NBC is a giant clusterfuck right now.
It was known before the end of season 4 that Scrubs wasn’t coming back until January.
Did wonder how they were gonna fit 22-24 episodes in before the summer… Ah well, I ain’t gonna complain. Hour of new Scrubs every week? Tasty! Zach has said on his blog that they’ve already done seven episodes (this was about two weeks ago, so probably more like eight now) and that it’s some of the most surreal stuff they’ve done.
I still maintain that NBC are just kicking their heels until Scrubs reaches the number of episodes needed for syndication (which I THINK is around 100) and then they’ll shitcan it. I fully expect season 5 to be the last.

Although if I had to comment on combining those three shows, I would have to disagree. Package Scrubs and My Name is Earl together no problem. The Office? NBC needs to can that show.
The Office is still managing to pull in an audience. It would be best for them to package everything together to pull in ratings for all three.
In my little dream world NBC picks up Arrested Development and packages My Name is Earl, Scrubs, The Office, and Arrested Development all together for the best night of comedy they’ve had for a good, long while. But alas, it is only a dream world.
I picked up the DVD set and actually ate it up quicker than my Lost DVDs.

Seriously, though, I like your thinking. NBC’s comedy lineup is severely lacking right now. And to make it worse, they seem to be trying to force support for Joey and Will and Grace instead of expanding the fan base for their comedies that have already proven themselves to be hilarious. Scrubs is hands-down the best sitcom on TV right now that isn’t being screwed with by the Fox network. That was convoluted and pointless. It’s the best sitcom that’s not Arrested Development. There.
Will and Grace are out the door. Same for Joey.
NBC needs to start taking some chances like they used to easily do.
FINALLY. I can’t wait.

Will & Grace announced well before the season started that this would be their final year. And the reason Joey is still in production is that Matt LeBlanc has it in his contract that unless two complete seasons at the most are made of the show both Warner Bros. and NBC will be obligated to pay him an obscene amount of money. So it’s just cheaper to keep making the show.
This is not a smart move by NBC. It’s like taking a kid who’s shown some promise in AA baseball and immeadeately tossing him into the major league. CSI beats EVERYTHING and now NBC thinks it can simply retake Thursday nights with a freshman comedy and a sophmore comedy just slowly starting to find its audience?
I hope Earl and Office manage to survive this foolhardy move.

Like I said before, NBC needs to take some risks, but not ones that it clearly can’t win.
The new season begins this Tuesday at 9 with a double-dose of new episodes. Also, imdb (so take with a salt mine) had a neat news brief which I’ve posted below:

Personally, I can’t wait till the show goes into syndication on Comedy Central and while I’m upset at the move of Earl and the Office to Thursday nights, I think they have a better chance of survival on that night than Scrubs and I would like to see all three shows be ratings successes.
The only way Scrubs will ever go to Thursday nights (if ever) is if Four Kings bombs, or if they go with a 6th season and move it after Will & Grace goes off the air.
Regardless of what day the show is on, I’m there. I have waited too damn long for this show to return.
