Local news here just said that Huckabee and Steve Martin will make an appearance tonight. I’m watching.
Huckabee was great. He’s so lovable, I just want to hug him. If it weren’t for the whole bigotry thing.
For some reason, I was cracking up at Anton Chigruh limping away with a milkshake.
Aside from that Milkshake sketch (which was cute, but not entirely clever), this has been a very fun episode. And that Digital Short was a brilliant, if belated, shot at those CleanFlicks-type re-editing companies.
I was expecting more but it was ok, nothing memorable. What’s That Bitch Talking About? was unfunny. Keenan Thompson can’t sell anything.
I liked the debate sketch even if it’s been done before. I think they can do more ith the Daniel Plainview character.
For some reason, I loved the Hot Air Balloon ad.
Me too. But I pretty much love anything Kristin Wiig does.
I missed the first half, but the last half was hit or miss. Bill Hader scores again with another impression. Loved his Day-Lewis. Tina Fey really wasn’t in any sketches I saw other than the god-awful Lipstick Jungle knock off and as Juno.
For me, it was classic bad SNL, where you are surprised that you dutifully watch. Most of the sketches took place in the generic sketch world: game shows, wedding banquets, program advertisements. They existed because the writers had to fill space, not because they had anything to say. I haven’t watched the show in a while.
The Obama impersonation was funny silently, but a little awkward when he talked. The period commercial had a good payoff. I agree that Wiig has a good presence. I didn’t want her to give up the podium during the wedding sketch, and I wished the Air Balloon had been shorter and sharper or mutated into something longer.
I didn’t like the DVD digital sketch, or the Daniel Plainview sketch, although, as with the political candidates, I desperately wanted the movies involved to be subject of a sketch. In the latter, Hader did have the voice down, but there was no idea other than to repeat the catchphrase and combine the two villains.
Huckabee was indeed likeable, and Fey’s defense of Hilary was spirited.
Fey’s defense of Hilary was shit. I had a real problem with that.
Just watch the CNN sketch. Is that Fred Armisan playing Obama?

The Annuale ad was great. That shot of Fey grimacing and holding up the ax killed me.

I, personally, thought that Fey’s defense of Hillary Clinton was hilarious. And, being a bitch, I can assure you that we do, in fact, get things done. Top of our list? Crafting humor that eludes the likes of Cruikshank, apparently.

I didn’t think the show was that good last night, but one thing I really loved was the “The Mirror” digital short. That was a fun bit. “I love you, Dracula.” “And I love you, Debbie Lieberstein.”
