Figured I might as well start a thread so we don’t clog up the ‘wtf are they making’ thread. I’ll change the title as soon as we…you know, have one.
So Rockstar has released two promo images so far:
Some of you might remember the build-up to GTAV going a lot the same way. An image a day was released till the big reveal trailer. If Rockstar are doing the same here we can probably expect a trailer by Sunday.
A lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that this means the game will ONLY be a multiplayer one. To which I say ‘Nuh uh’. I get that gaming companies fucking us over in recent years has made us wary but I have yet to see any reason to believe that. Especially based on Rockstar’s history. GTA Online might have made a lot of money in recent years but let’s not forget they only got that chance thanks to the INSANE amounts of money that the name Grand Theft Auto V made. And you can bet that Rockstar knows this as well. So even though I don’t have any concrete proof I feel comfortable saying that this will be a full Single Player AND Multiplayer game. Same as RDR and GTAV were.
Is GTA Online fun if you give it a chance? I kind of gave up on it after I was killed trying to get to a race, then sat in a loading screen for three minutes only to get my ass handed to me during said race.
I suppose I like my sandbox games with a degree of control and curation, ala Witcher 3.
In any case, this game will be a lock for me regardless. Red Dead Redemption is a stone cold classic.
Yeah, it’s something I’ve mulled over for a while now cause I do like the look of a lot of PS4 exclusives like Uncharted, The Last of Us and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Yeah, sorry, I liked RDR as much as the next guy (OK, maybe not that guy, he’s crazy) but unless there’s a PC port I’ll just have to admire from the sidelines. $460 (or whatever) for a machine that plays games worse than the PC I currently own would require a level of “eh, fuck it” money that I just don’t possess. Also, gotta second the “lame” for RDR 2. Come on Rockstar, that’s weak.
Y’all are either crazy or crazy rich, but if you’re really willing to grab a console for this, might not hurt to wait and see what the Scorpio has to offer. If any company is going to take advantage of that increased horsepower, it would be someone like Rockstar with money to burn on a “bells and whistles” version. Plus, it’s got the 4K Blu-Ray thing, which is…something?
Eh, there probably will be a port two years later. Same as GTAV did. And that’s probably gonna result in dumb fucks like yours truly double dipping for it.
And my initial reaction to the name was the same…till I realised that nobody remembers Revolver and it barely has any connection to Redemption which this one seems to be building off of much more so it makes sense.
Honestly, Microsoft allowing me to play those games on PC anyway means I’ll probably never buy another X-Box, so the PS4 will have more value when it comes to exclusives for me. But honestly, I just love RDR so much. I wish I could still fucking play it. So it IS crazy…but we do crazy things for love.
Also, Redemption kind of fit the first game’s story to a T, so I’m curious whether it will work here as well, or if they’re just going “fuck it, brand recognition baby!”
Yep, but let’s be honest here, they could call it “Red Dead Fuck You, Pay Us” and if it came with a PC release of the original I’d buy two copies. Still fun to whinge though.
As for the kid, I’d be surprised given that the original in large part was about the end of the “Wild” West so it would be weird to go even further down the road.
AI was lucky enough to buy my younger brother’s PS4 on the cheap because he decided he wanted the Arkham special edition console with the Bat symbol emblazoned on it. No shit-- some dork’s pathological Batmania was actually good for something.
Problem was, I had finally, finally gotten around to playing RDR and had logged a significant amount of time on it, and it was great. But when the PS3 got shuffled to a side room the game went with it and I kinda forgot about it. Which is really stupid because I haven’t been using the 4 for anything other than a blu and streaming device since.
So I think I’ll now just wait for this new one. I’m glad there is single player, because I wouldn’t buy it if my only option were getting murderized by some 9 year old within two seconds of breathing virtual air.
