Pokemon Go- Damn, They Ruined a Cashcow Didn't They?

PokeGlo Safety Reflectors

I’m sure that kid has already heard from Nintendo’s lawyers.

A[quote name=“flint” url=“/community/t/155656/pokemon-go-shut-up-you-know-youre-playing-it#post_4099132”]Turns out my tube train in the morning travels slow enough at the very start to not trigger the ‘you’re in a vehicle mode’ (it leaves the platform, goes past a large junction and a train storage yard). Looks like I’m getting a free 1km egg incubation every morning before it registers I’m going too fast.

I’ve no clue how I’m supposed to power up any of the rarer Pokemon though. Currently I’m getting Drowzee’s, Rattata’s and Pidgeys at a rate of knots so it’s those three I’m able to upgrade and evolve. Doesn’t even look like I can buy the candy?

So that’s what I sound like when I talk about MMOs.

I resisted. Then everyone started talking about it at the brewery on Saturday night, and I relented, the next day. I caught a Squirtle in my bedroom*, and then got bored at work and went for a short walk to get some lunch. Came back with half a dozen Pokemons (Pokemon?).

Last night, I was feeling restless so I went for a walk to check out my new neighborhood. I ended up walking/jogging around for 45 minutes in 100 degree and never thought once about being warm or thirsty. And I found a bunch more, including a lizard guy with a fire tail. There’s two checkpoints and a gym just outside my complex so I stopped and talked to some of my new neighbors for a bit.

Fuck it. Competing with friends on Nike+ couldn’t keep me interested in racking up jogging miles, but you give me a video game that rewards me for running a little further by appealing to my mildly-compulsive nature to collect things and level up? I’m in.

The only caveat is that it’s Pokemon. I was too old for it when it became popular, so I don’t have any emotional attachment to the franchise. But if someone made an RPG where you had to walk around killing orcs and dragons and shit, and walk to the nearest store or blacksmith to craft new gear and level up, I would look like an Olympic distance runner in two months flat.

*I made myself laugh.

I AM ASHAMED OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU

At least until it’s released in my country, at which point I will probably become one of you.

But, for now, I’m ashamed of you.

Funny, but fake.

And a Tip. I haven’t tried it yet so YMMV.

I’ve done a few walks around the City at key catching points, and I’m not alone in staring at my phone and trying to catch the buggers. Liverpool Street Station Gym has already changed hands a few times too, so there’s clearly enough of us downloading the Aussie/US APK (beware, some of them have some pretty nasty trojans in them). One of my staff tells me that Westfield was FULL of people roaming around and catching Pokemon (probably a lot of PokeStops in a small and safe area).

Should be officially released here in a few days I’m reading.

Saw a Pikachu. Went across the street from the office to get it. Another random Pokemon appeared on the map and crashed the game.

DAY. RUINED.

My 14 y.o was playing the role of embarrassed teenager this past Sunday as the family strolled through Main St. downtown. He just could not believe we were out doing this and talking to strangers about it.

What has that sullen little shit been doing for three days straight? Riding around the neighborhood on a friend’s golf cart with anywhere between two and five other kids his age “Pokehunting” all damn day. They have also been night “Pokehunting”, until 11pm last night, for the different variants that come out when the sun goes down. I think he said he has run into a few Pikachu in our streets. I have yet to find one.

I live in fear of my neighborhood being overrun by golf cart riding Pokemon gangs.

AI still can’t believe how much of a thing this is. When you can go and shout your team and everyone knows what you’re talking about.

My mom askes me on a daily basis about whether I got any “monsters”

I don’t understand any of thissss!!!

AI’m with Jake

*Internet explanation - This is a joke. If you enjoy this stuff, good on ya, whatever floats your boat. Personally I don’t, and never will, get it.

I caught a Pikachu this morning. I can officially stop playing I think.

How many pogs would you want for it?

Two Swatches or six slap bracelets.
