I agree. As much as I love Escobar the chance of him being James’s boss seems unlikely. Wasnt he in prison for the last three years? How do you run a black market kidney scam from prison? I suppose he has cronies and such but really…its seems like a far stretch. I think the writers know Escobar was a popular villian and they are just trying to get back what they had in the first season. Personally I wish the kidney theif story line would end and Michelle would leave. Im tired of her bitching and moaning.
Pretty lame. The stuff with Escobar was way too predictable. I fail to see how the show is going to be wildly different with them in L.A.
Feels like a series reboot, which is sorely needed. It’s a shame that basically my favorite parts of this year were returns of old characters: porn star Kimber, Gallardo, and the rival surgeon/rapee.
Here’s hoping nobody from the first four seasons return in anything more substantial than a cameo. Miami is played out, welcome to Hollywood.
Agreed with Overlord, it’s basically a revamp for the show. Hopefully it’ll bring in some interesting idea’s and characters. The show grew really stale this year. They should have finished the Escobar storyline with him riding off into the sunset after capping off the dude in Sean’s house all square with McNamara/Troy. It would have been a fitting ending to his story but instead we got the lame ass shit that he was James boss.
Everyone knows those lazy asses moved the show to LA so they no longer had to dress LA to make people think its Miami.
Really disappointed with this. The way the Carver storylined ended sucked, and for some reason, this season just didn’t do it for me. Not to mention that atrocious future episode. Unless some really good casting for the next season, I think I’m done with this show.

Anyone know anything about “The Riches”? The promos for it were the first I’d heard of it. FX is really starting to crank out the shows, aren’t they?
I was ready to pretty much write this show off, but the strength of the two main characters kept pulling me back in. But after watching the season finale last night, I’ll be back next season. Yes, moving the show to LA is textbook jumping the shark, but, damn, if I’m not intrigued. That final shot of Shawn and Christian leaning against the Hollywoodland sign was greatness. I hope that they cut away all of the fat that’s attached itself to the series over the last two seasons and get back to what makes the show great: the relationship between Shawn (the good guy) and Christian (the dick) and their crazy ass patients. Also, they need to bring Liz to LA… and keep Danny Strong around as an intern for them both to abuse.
In a season that had more ups (Escobar’s triumphant return) and downs (the Future), quality-wise, than a roller coaster, it still managed to hold my interest. It didn’t hurt that the season finale was, in my opinion, a fairly strong one, as well. I especially liked the throw back to season one with the feeding of corpses to alligators… it was a nice full circle moment. And the music video moment was a very cool and novel way to depict the characters’ feelings (does anybody know the name of the song or the artist?).

I actually thought it was quite awkward. It’s nearly impossible to get anywhere near that sign so it stuck out quite a bit to me.
It also seems that Sean gave in a little too quickly, even with the “loneliness” montage they had near the end. Seems like everything was written off a little too neatly with a musical number.
I’ll be back, since I’m interested to see what is in store for the characters in LA, but it just seems like an easy out.

I didn’t know this. In fact, judging by television and film, I assumed that people are always up there, taking pictures and such. Why, in that classic series, 90210, Brandon and Gang’s senior prank was to replace the “Hollywood” sign with one reading “West Bev”. So, it didn’t bother me to have Troy/McNamara hanging out up there.

I see what you’re saying, but the bottom line is that Shawn (Sean?) and Christian are always going to come together. They are the only two people in the world who completely understand one another. The writers could have played this out a little bit more, having an episode or two next season where they’re on separate coasts. But, frankly, to what purpose? We’ve seen what happens when these two are apart. Therefore, I like that they’re going to have their high-end operation up and running on the Waste coast at the start of next season. I’ll be looking forward to that first, “So, tell us what you don’t like about yourself.”

Basically, everything. They all sang the song, then it cuts to SEan in a crappy Encino plastic surgery office applying for a job. The interviewee asks him 'do you really want to be here" and mentions that Sean should be applying for his job.
Sean says he wants something stress-free and this is where he wants to be. It cuts to him at surgery, and he has a young intern with him. The young intern comments on his past surgeries and says it is an honor to work with him, then asks “what are you doing here?”. Sean asks him if he’d like to make the first cut, and the intern admits he has never done this before and is nervous.
A voice then says: “let me step in”. The camera pans and it’s Christian, scrubbed and standing in the doorway. He begins to work with Sean and Sean basically says “what the heck are you doing here?” Christian says he couldn’t trust his love interest, and that he sold her his half of the partnership (this may not be true, as we see her writing a “Dear John” during her portion of the song). Christian then invites Sean to open a practice with him in Hollywood, and comments that he is disappointed in L.A. thus far (stating, where’s the glitz and glamour). Sean says no, and the episode ends.
Just kidding. Sean initially says “No, unless this time I can choose the carpet.” They both laugh, and the series prepares for a season five reboot.
The Song depicts, variously, (a) The disconnect between Kimber and Matt, albeit with some hope of reconciliation, (b) Liz and Christian’s sadness at Sean’s absence, © Sean’s general sense of loneliness in his new environment and (d) the distrust that exists between Michelle and Christian.
Cut to:
Sean in the operating room, ready to do some surgery on an old lady, with his new intern (played by Danny Strong (Jonathan from Buffy and, my wife tells me, Gilmore Girls). After reassuring the intern that everything will be fine, a familiar voice tells the newby to beat it. It’s Christian in scrubs and he gives the intern the keys to his ride, telling him to take it for a spin and to return it washed and waxed. At first, Christian tells Sean that he and Wilbur have come on vacation, but then–rather abruptly-- reveals that he’s sold his share of McNamara/Troy (whatever it’s called now) to Michelle. His buyout wasn’t so hot, however, because he asked her to buy him out at the same time that he asked for his ring back. Helping Sean with the surgery, Christian tells him that Sean’s new employment is beneath them and that they could own Hollywood (because it’s an ugly town) together. Without much coaxing, Sean agrees and they decide that Troy/McNamara West will be strictly a Rodeo Drive affair. Final shots of the duo leaning against the Hollywood sign (which, apparently, is actually nigh impossible to do).
End of episode.

Thanks guys. I don’t know how I feel about the LA move. It’s could be a reboot of the series, but how different is LA from Miami really? It’s still a tropical setting with plastic, self absorbed people. It’s hard for me to imagine that the storylines will change all that dramatically.

Yeah, the show was rather lackluster this season, which made all the cameos kind of an eye-sore. The beginning episodes weren’t terrible, but as it wore on, it slowly got a whole lot worse. I agree that the “future” episode was shit.

Agreed here as well. I am willing to tune in to see what happens in LA, but this finale felt rushed and wrapped up waaaaay too much stuff in the last 10 minutes, especially after all the character development.

I actually have ZERO interest in watching Dirt with Courtney Cox because I saw the promos way too often.
Word has it that season 5 of Nip/Tuck is going to be 22 episodes. 15 seemed hard enough for the writers to flesh out a “story” but 22? Wow. This is going to be one hell of a challenge for them.
Expect season 5 to be even worse then last year, not only is it going to be 22 episodes but acording to TV Guide all of the castmembers are coming back. What was the point in going to LA? I thought it would be a fresh new start with brand new characters. I’d take Kimber but fuck the rest of 'em.
What could be the worst part of the 22 episodes is that it will mean a further delay to whatever Tuesday show will follow. Since I doubt “Dirt” will be back it could mean “The Shield.” Of course I probably should just enjoy the 6th season before I worry about the 7th of that program.
But the only semi-decent aspect to them going to L.A. was to get them away from the tired characters and storylines of the last couple seasons. Bringing the supporting cast with them fucks all that up.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they split the season into two parts.
