Solid opener. Great showcase for Dylan Walsh. I know we all age but Kathleen Turner has done a very poor job of it. On the flipside The Flash’s girlfriend is holding up pretty well.

Loved the opening montage. However, I feel as if we went down this road with Christian before with him realizing his own mortality and wanting to settle down. The gay aspect of it all is pretty novel. I wonder if they’ll sustain that storyline for a few more episodes or drop it all together.
The deformed baby plot is not at all interesting to me. And like Jason, I’m guessing something happens that’ll cause Julia to miscarry or give it up for adoption.
Liz is apparently back. I thought she left MacNamara/Troy to go work at Julia’s spa. And speaking of the spa, it was such a huge part of Julia’s journey into being a self-reliant woman. It sucks that they just threw all that away with a one liner about needing money for their kid.

I thought it was a pretty good season opener. The opening montage was hilarious. The suggestion that Christian has feelings for Sean has been something my wife and I have been batting around since the series started, so it was great to see one of the characters give expression to it. I hope that the writers will play around with that idea this season. My only real complaint was having Christian shag Brooke Shields at the end of the episode. From what little we saw of her character, it seemed out of place and, as there was absolutely no setup, jarring (except that, admittedly, I was all, like, "Ha, Christian rules! Take that, Brooke Shields! Yeah!"

Kathleen Turners looks pretty darn terrible. What happened? This is my favorite Brooke Shields role, ever.

Yeah, and a toss off about Gina - she’s one I haven’t heard much about… is she supposed to be appearing at all this season? But yeah, about Liz back at McNamara/Troy, I guess we won’t be getting any type of explanation on that one.

What about Tracy Scoggins? My goodness, she’s what, 53? ( A year older than Kathleen Turner ) And she looks fabulous!
Yeah, Scoggins looks good for her age. I guess it was the trashy role she played that was a bit of a turn-off. But I always dug Amanda Pays and that accent from back in the day. Would be nice if she could show up in future episodes but I doubt Troy is going to need redecorating anytime soon.
It was a pretty good way to start the season. But the ending montage was…not good. Christian nailing Brooke Shields at the end just seemed strange.

When Kimber started talking about how bad psychologists were, and how they weren’t helping Matt, I starting thinking she was channeling Cruise.
Then I saw the meter (can’t remember the name - e-meter, thetan reader?). I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile! Something tells me Scientology could do a better job of recruiting people if they used Carlson in spandex…
On a different note, am I the only one who thought they were going to have Christian and the younger guy hook up? For a show that has a usual stream of over-the-top scenarios, I figured they might go that route…
They are really gunning for Scientology this year. Pretty funny stuff, hopefully they’ll keep on milking that angle.

Christian’s sexcapades in the opening montages are so great! I, too, was hoping he would finally give into his possible gay urges. Last season did a good job of setting up this crisis (e.e., Quentin on numerous occasions talked about how Christian gives off a gay/bi vibe), so it’s not so implausible for the viewer to think that Christian may be gay despite his overtly sexual behavior with the ladies.
I’m really digging the reveal of the new boss lady’s secret. I have no idea where its heading, but its got me completely intrigued. On the other hand, I’m not digging Matt and Annie’s storylines. Scientology and being obsessed with lizard hands is not my idea of a good time. And in particular, I think they used Annie’s interest in her brother’s condition as an excuse for Sean to fix him so they wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore as opposed to giving Annie a little more depth and allowing her to express her curiosity/confusion/frustration/etc. about it.
Great start to the season so far!
The gay community seems to be embracing Christian’s storyline.

This episode was so much better than the season opener. It set up all of the themes and situations they will be dealing with for the rest of the season.
The stuff with Annie was particularly interesting; especially when her mom found all of the dolls with their fingers deformed. Good to see Matt back as well. I’m interested to see how the connection with Kimber and Scientology pans out, especially after Christian’s threat to Kimber.
I think the gay community is enjoying Julian McMahon looking good, Diva. Frankly, it seems like F/X is big on exploiting homosexuality in any way they can (it’s pretty often that you see a gay or bi character get smacked around on their shows) without actually doing much with the storylines involving it. I’ll be suprised if the whole Christian follows through into some sort of long term thing. We’ll see.
Well… they hinted at Sean’s love for Christian; I was surprised they turned the mirror towards Christian so quickly. I do hope it’s something they continue to address; considering Christian’s lifestyle compared to Sean’s.
Anyone want to guess what’s going on with the new boss and that older woman?
Judging by how Sania Lathan freaked out when she thought Troy was operating on a hooker I’d say she may be a former whore herself. The older lady could be her former madame (lover?) who is blackmailing her into giving her money or she’ll spill the beans about her past as a whore to Larry Hagman.
Just a guess.

I don’t know about that. With storylines like Ava and Cherry’s, I think the gay community is pretty happy that tansvestites and drag queens are getting air time on mainstream TV. And as much as they (Ava and Cherry) got beat up onscreen, Matt and I guess to some degree Sean, acted as the conscience of the show --at least in regards to the treatment of non-traditional sex roles – and made the veiwers understand that they weren’t bad people. While Ava was a predator of young boys, I think the show did a good job of showing that her behavior was a consequence of her stunted emotional growth and that she wasn’t inherently a bad person, she just needed psychological help. In any case, I think the way Christian is acting is certanly a realistic one, particularly in terms of a guy who is sexually confused and doesn’t want to admit he may have feelings for same sex individuals.
