Well, Kurt Russell + Monsters is always a good time, so alright then. A small screen but what looks like very big budget addition to the Monsterverse:
Sweet. Be nice to get something to feed my Big G jones.

Kurt Russell in Raymond Burr mode. Love it.
I really hope that this is better than the atrocious Godzilla vs. Kong. Just kidding, nothing can be worse then that flick!
It looks like it’s more in the style of Gareth Edward’s initial offering. Which I am all here for.

I’ve seen Godzilla movies that were worse than Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla (1998) is definitely no Godzilla (1954).
I think it’s probably the best out of this new batch of Godzilla movies. Had a big smile on my face the whole way through. Gotta respect that there was a clear winner at the end.
(there’s a possibility this was a bait post)
KING OF THE MONSTERS (2019) is the best Monsterverse movie, but GvK is a lot of fun.
It needed more Mothra.
GvK is more of a Kong movie than a Godzilla movie, but I like Kong. So I can’t complain.
My take on the Monsterverse is Skull Island is almost perfect, King of the Monsters is great for the spectacle but the human characters like Bradley Whitford and the nerdy guy from Silicon Valley really, really bother me. Godzilla 2014 is pretty enjoyable but the MUTOs were kind of underwhelming. Godzilla vs. Kong is a bunch of hot garbage chock full of nonsense and bafflingly bad decisions. I think I went into some more detail in the Post Release thread but that is the one movie in the series that I have absolutely no desire to ever re-visit. What an absolute waste.
It’s weird, but for some reason I just don’t think about these films as a “part of a series” thing. I always see a trailer for one and go ‘Oh! We’re doing Godzilla again. Cool.’ It’s just…you know, a Godzilla film and he is unbound by our notion of rules or canon.
This looks good!
Always happy to see Kurt.
Nothing is worse than GINO '98, nothing. Even Kong '76 is better than it.
‘98 is unfortunately better than most of the Millennium era flicks.
I would say the John Goodman character from Skull Island is 100% a character I never expected to see again.
*spits drink*
My favorite part of Final Wars is a GINO jobbing out at the Sydney Opera House to the real Godzilla, while a Sum-41 song blares. That scene alone is better than all of GINO '98.
I think all the MonsterVerse films have their merits. GvK does the WrestleMania aspect better than the others. Ghidorah in KoM is the best villain. Kong:SI has heaps of pulpy adventure goodness. But I tend to like Godzilla 14 the most for numerous awe inspiring scenes.
I’m keen to see how the new TV show plays out.
