Loved that Simpsons episode. I even remember the clip Homer was watching - it was a guy doing a waltz with a horse up on its hind legs, and a stoplight hanging from a tree. I was too young to catch Twin Peaks at the time it aired, but I can remember people talking about how crazy it was. Lost will probably be the same way in 10/15 years…

The one on the right is the tail section. The one on the left is the fuselage.

Is that because the one on the right is closer to Othersville? I would have guessed the opposite, since the one on the right is on the beach, as the fuselage was.

I’m assuming the one on the right is closer, as Benry said when he assigned people to go to the camps.
If you look at the way the plane broke up as it flew over, it doesn’t make sense for the right plume to be the nose section, since we see the tail falling off first and the nose continuing on away from the village.

The tailies were closer, as what’s-his-name indicated that he could be there within an hour.

So, are the Others the scientists from the Dharma initiative or the subjects of their experiments?
I think it’s a mistake on the part of the show. The smoke on the right is clearly on a beach and we know the tailies were not near a beach. But Benry did say that the tailies were closer and the way the plane broke up onscreen would indicate the right side is the tailies side. Chalk it up to an unfortunate discrepancy.

They all got shots. We see Jack and Sawyer pull off their bandages as well.
I think the shots are the vaccine for whatever illness everyone keeps talking about. Desmond was taking them daily and Ethan injected Claire’s baby while they were kidnapped.
There was wreckage on the beach where the tail section landed. Otherwise there would be no smoke trail for the tail section since most of that section of the plane landed in the water.

I was thinking that maybe the shots were sedatives/truth serum stuff and that’s how they derived all of their information about their captives. I’m not convinced that the island is wired in, so to speak. I’m guessing they’re more isolated than they want us to believe.

that’s what I was thinking too-that maybe the Others took over or killed off the people who were from the Dharma initiative. That was the vibe I got from Juliet when she told Jack that the station was part of Dharma a long time ago. I took it as the Others had taken over an abandoned station, not that they were part of the initiative.
Or, alternatively, that the inmates took over the asylum-that the Others were originally test subjects or created a mutiny to kill off the Dharma people.
Maybe the Initiative fell apart, but many of the original members stayed behind to live in their little perfect world. Or maybe they’re there for more sinister purposes. Who knows?

well not to be nitpicky, 90% of the time if you have a cotton swab over the fold in your arm aka antecubital fossa its from a blood draw An injection is usually never given there, unless an IV line was placed for whatever reason.
i dont remember how Desmond administered the vaccine to himself, but I think it was on the side of his arm right?
Additionally, all of the “immunization” shots we’ve seen so far have been done with an inoculator.
Yeah, he had a fancy injector gun thing. Claire has a set, too, (for the BAAAY-BEEE!) that Charlie found in the food drop. I’m currently subscribing to the “IV truth serum” theory. Sawyer didn’t have a bandage, I don’t think, so I’m guessing they haven’t done (or won’t do) anything to him.
