LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Hour Season 2 on Amazon

Bits and pieces are coming out. Now is the time to start this ish up. The actor playing Adar, easily the best character on the show, has been recast. They don’t say why.

uh… is this another series separate from the one that just recently came and went?

a new thread?

Well, this is for season 2. Unsure if we wanted to combine season 1 talk with season 2 rumors, etc. big properties sometimes warrant that.

Maybe he and Mat from S1 of Wheel of Time are doing a start up together.

ooohhhhh, you edited the thread title!!!

YOU MADE ME THE FOOL!!!

a thread for the first season, yes

but what about second threadfast?

It is strange to recast an actor who just killed it, when it seems likely he was under contract. Gotta be a story there…

Wonder if the change in filming-base for the upcoming season (the U.K. instead of New Zealand) played a role, here.

Damn shame, he was the most intriguing character/performance on the show.

The one unanimously acclaimed performance and they recast?

Sounds like he wanted to do other stuff.

Hey now, everyone really liked…I wanna say, the girl hobbit?

I liked most of the cast!

Hot Blacksmith Lady was Hot.

I remember almost none of the cast aside from Saint Maude, Girl Hobbit and guy who looks like a literal elf.

The actor playing Maybe-Gandalf was terrific. The Hobbit was stranded with him in a totally different show, and she helped make it worthwhile, largely through her own charisma. The Dwarf prince and princess were perfect. The blacksmith (I’ve loved that actress dating back to HOMELAND) and her elf not-lover were both very strong. I thought the actor playing Sauron did a pretty good job in a tricky role, and his last scenes with Galadriel make me think he can work well going forward.

People complained some about Galadriel and Elrond, but I thought both did good work, and only got better as the season went along. Elrond’s friendship with the Dwarf and being torn between that and his people was well-played and engrossing for me. Galadriel’s in-progress arc of learning that she can’t bull-rush through every problem worked for me, and I thought the character and actress showed more and more as she was given more people to bounce off of.

The only place I thought the casting was spotty was in Numenor, specifically with the younger actors (including the Queen). But otherwise, I’d argue that the casting has been a strength of the show.

Didn’t know they recast Adar. bummer.
That said, my favorite character on the show is Arondir. I’m glad that actor is staying.

Loved Mawle’s Adar, but at least Hazeldine is a pretty good actor. Hopefully the change isn’t too distracting. The character already requires a lot of make-up so that might help the surface level visual transition. Mat Cauthon on the other hand…

Tom Bombadil will appear in season two according to TheOneRing.net.
