Tom Bomadil? Away with you.
…God bless Imgur:
Okay, I can’t stop chuckling at those. I want that second one on a t-shirt.
The Brooklyn 99 meme is perfect.
Yeah, hated the character in the book. No interest in seeing him in the show.
Honestly, you kinda need him in there, if you’re doing Tolkien’s Middle Earth.
Although they’re kind of just doing Jackson’s but legally distinct.

I look forward to the epic flamewars between the people who hate that Tom Bombadil even exists and the people who hate however they feel the showrunners have fucked up the character they’ve been waiting to see on film since, um, ever.
Tom Bombadil is so awful that “fucking him up” would mean you improved him.
But for real, who should play Tom? And Goldberry? And Fatty Lumpkin?
For Tom? Ed Sheerhan, clearly.
That PJ quote is kind of worthless.
I mean, I get it. And I honestly believe that they strove for that. But even a cursory viewing of the BTS features in the “Appendices” for the home video releases proves they were doing a fair amount of reinterpreting and decision-making on themes and “messages.” LOTR is, in Tolkien’s own words, primarily a Catholic (Christian) work. In the interviews with everyone for the disc Appendices, the only folks really referencing Tolkien’s religious themes are the academics or scholars; none of the actual writers, actors, or producers do so. Yes, there are strains of JRRT’s anti-industrialization there, but the books weren’t intended to be “pro-environmental” primarily nor was addiction Tolkien’s model or conceit for the effects of the Ring.
None of that is meant critically of the films. It’s expected and absolutely valid (and often necessary) to reinterpret stories when adapting them for different mediums and audiences. And I think PJ’s films do a fairly remarkable job honoring the source material and Tolkien’s underlying ideas. But to claim they didn’t do any interpreting or retheming is just flat out incorrect.
I disagree entirely, but I think I have a handle at this point as to where you are coming from, so it doesn’t surprise me that you feel this way.
Ismael Cruz Cordova is not returning for season two according to TheOneRing. They’re also reporting multiple actors will play Sauron in the second season.
I wonder what the story is there. He was good in the role and assuredly under contract, so it seems like it has to be a personal issue.
Wait, does that mean they need someone to be the love interest to hot blacksmith lady? Because I happen to have the next few whatever available. Agents may contact me here at my official office. I am a doctor, and I am in, baby!
He’ll be back in season three or four apparently. Season two largely follows Sauron.
Wow.
They just lost the actors for the two best portrayed characters.
They still have both Durins!
