Heroes Volume Three

I hate the promos for this season. I’ll still give it a go but they lack anything to get excited about except Ali Larter.

So Larter’s coming back too? God dammit.

In one of my ‘entertainment lulls,’ I started renting Season One. I couldn’t even get past the second disc. I WANTED to quit after the second episode, but managed to force myself to persevere until disc 2.

This show is awful in so many ways it’s not even worth describing. Basically, it represents everything bad about “TV” when you hear people in the industry talking about why they never want to do TV work.

I want an entire episode on the Haitian.

One thing I love about this show is that the writers and producers have no idea whatsover where they are going. I firmly believe they script out 3-4 episodes to start, wait to see what people are saying, and then find ways to dig themselves out of the holes they created. When they decide to stick to their guns (the twins, Hiro in ancient Japan for 7 episodes too long, etc.) they ruin things worse than anyone could have imagined. And who doesn’t love the dangling plot threads that just disapper or go nowhere?

Hey, what happened to the Irish chick stuck in the future? Oh shit…
Hey, what happened to the hot Israeli who could control machines? Oh shit…

The first person to tell me I need to read the comics or watch the online snippets to follow the missing links in the story gets punched in the vagina.

I will give Kring and Co a small modicum of lee-way in the plot dangling due to the writer’s strike. Still don’t forgive them for the beginning half of the season, though.

Hey Judge, you need to read the comics or watch the online snip-OWW!

I tuned in to one episode of this series last year, and the dialogue was just fucking atrocious. It made 24 sound like Davis Mamet.

[edit] I would fix that typo, but why fuck with Doc’s joke?

Davis Mamet? Miles Davis Mamet? Myles Davis Dyson?

Hmmm…I think I know where this is going, and I like it.

The show is the holy grail of geeky guilty pleasure. There is nothing wrong with it … nothing!nothing

This.

Hey, where’s the rampant (and well deserved) hate for this show that was so prominent in the season one thread? I miss that hate…

Devin? Anyone?

I can’t believe you son of a bitches watch, let alone publicly discuss, this atrocity.

I hate Snaieke. Does that help?

The first half of the first season had a lot of things that helped me get over the bullshit, but they’re all gone. Season two is a perfect example of what not to do when running a TV show and I swore I was done with this thing. But I have a few friends who saw the premiere, friends who hate the show, and they all had a great time. They may be on crack or have much lower standards, but I guess it’s just as stupid as usual but somehow actually fun. I’ll give it one episode.

People, including myself, let it run for one season… then we moved on to better things like Madmen, Generation Kill, John Adams, and the such…

I remember when some dumbass told me I’d be coming back for season 2… Like I had the same sick disease of not being able to cope without the shittiness of Heroes.

Well, I’m still not back. Not eva.

I wish I could look down at the sickies that watch this show but I watch Prison Break and The Terminator. So I’m basically one of them. Maybe one day soon I can quit those shows like I did with Heroes.

Yeah, I watch Terminator, but the difference is that I won’t defend it or become an apologist for it. I do think it’s worst moments are much better than Heros’ good ones.

It’s a little offensive to compare something as terrible as Heroes to Terminator, an entertaining show that’s occasionally (or frequently) stupid. Heroes is a dumb piece of shit that some geeks enjoy because the characters have superpowers. It’s like the guys that liked AVPR because an Alien or Predator occasionally appears within the frame. It had some fresh ideas and a few unexpected moments for a little bit, but that all went away. I think the only moment that’s defensible in the last season and a half was the way McDowell was killed. That’s it.

And yet you gleefully defend Armageddon.

Tell me one scene, moment, or idea in the last season and a half of Heroes that touches anything in Armageddon. The terrible animal crackers scene is better than everything that’s happened in Heroes.

Armageddon is retarded, but it’s not fucking retarded like Heroes.

If Steve Buscemi was on the show and his power was space dementia I’d forgive almost everything.

Hell, even Peter Stormare beating shit with a big wrench would do it.
