I will admit that I’ve only played the former but I’ve watched a few streams of PUBG, and it seems to me that Fortnite is the better game. Am I right?
It’s better made. I’m still quite shocked at how shoddy PUBG looks when I watch people playing it on Twitch. Often, the bottom of buildings don’t completely touch the floor which causes sunlight to shine through the gaps into the house. You see this a lot with hastily put together asset-flips on Steam, and it’s odd to see it in a full-price game.
It has crafting and building. This is only a minor point but it adds a little something extra to the gameplay, especially toward the end when you start seeing the remaining players building their titular forts.
It’s better supported. In terms of communication with players and updating the game, Fortnite blows the opposition away. Have you seen what they’re adding?!
It’s free. Nuff said.
Sure, PUBG has the bigger map but Fortnite just seems like the better choice in nearly every other way. Am I wrong?
APart of the impetus for getting the PC was PUBG. I managed to start playing Fortnite on the PS4 and it just scratched the hell out of that itch. I still want to get PUBG but everything I have heard about its optimization, even after going full retail, means I keep putting it off.
Fortnite however has been doing too much too fast I think. They keep playing around with stuff and in the process break too much. To be fair, they jump on fixes faster than you can imagine but it is frustrating to deal with when you just want to play.
For me, part of it comes down to the aesthetics. I find Fortnite much more visually appealing, as I’m a big fan of that cartoony look (I used to be a massive fan of Loadout which had a similar - albeit more exaggerated - look) in comparison to the more realistic but drab appearance of PUBG.
Someone I know gave up on Fortnite because he thought the map was too small (and the rounds were too short) but that’s part of the appeal for me. I much prefer five to ten minutes of one match before diving into another, compared to PUBG’s much longer rounds.

Well, if Bucho agrees that Fortnite is better, then it must be so. [/quote]
Oh, yeah, nah, I’m almost entirely retired from gaming for now so I haven’t played either of these, I was just talking from the spectatorial perspective, having watched a fair bit of PUBG and just seeing Tzu have at it in Fortnite a week or so ago, during which time I was struck by how Fortnite seemed the clear superior.
I only follow Tzu and one other gamer on Twitch (who, funnily enough, was indirectly responsible for me discovering CHUD, so it’s all in the family really) so if you guys have channels let me know. I mostly have it on as semi-background entertainment while I do other computery stuff but when it gets good I get sucked into watching like a proper gaming fan.
Like when you guys played Sea of Thieves. That looked fun as hell so I ended up watching a bunch of that stream like it was a TV show or something.
I’ve done the first couple of PvE bits in Fortnite, and it’s fun. I’d love to give the Battle Royale a go. Apparently there was a big patch this week that introduced some new weapons and fixes and whatnot too.
I’ll definitely give the PvE mode a try when it goes Free To Play later this year.
Oh, I’ll never have a Twitch stream. I’m hardly DrDisRespect-great at any particular game and, having heard myself on one of Tzu’s streams, I’m pretty sure nobody would want to listen to me for two hours, or whatever.
I’ve seen you mention this before, but, to me at least, you have a perfectly fine voice. No one likes the sound of their own voice. Well, except maybe Tzu and Freeman. And Trump.
I like Fortnite but it’s a bit goofy the when you get down to the top 10/20 guys and the Lego-mania starts. We’re slowly getting the hang out of maintaining high ground. I’m thinking of buying PUBG - I bought it once but instantly returned it because the frame-rate was so shitty. I switched to newer, better RAM a few weeks ago and I think it will run better now.
I’ve been playing Fortnite on PC Monday nights with my brother in law. We play 9:00 - 10:00 PM Eastern time. PM me if you want in. Here’s the Facebook page I made:
