Fortnite vs PUBG

Give it a go - it’s a lot of fun. It’s great for when you maybe only have fifteen minutes and fancy some quick gaming.

I desperately want to play Fortnite with a group of friends if any Chudders are up for trying to make a group?

It’s fun alone, but it seems like a game that would be a BLAST laughing and screeching like frightened children with friends.

I’m in!

Oh…

I’m not good enough at the game to join a squad, but would happily watch Freema, Tzu, Codey and someone else running around building forts and shooting at things.

I dropped Fortnite after a few rounds of trying, mostly because the maps were just too small for my liking. PUBG is broken beyond repair though at this stage and I was a HUGE fan of it. I much prefer the tension of a larger map that gets progressively smaller as it adds to both the tension and to tactical options for me. Crafting is one of the things that put me off big style from Fortnite, I’m not interested in that stuff at all in a Battle Royale style game and whilst you can ignore it at the beginning later on it just becomes mandatory.

Hopefully something will come along that scratches the deeper more tactical PUBG itch soon. Preferably with less shoddy mechanics, glitches and better graphics.

I imagine there’s a few Battle Royale games on the horizon with the scale and polish you’d expect from a AAA title.

Fortnite is great but it really is just the assets from their procedurally generated PvE game re-purposed in an open world map. Never played PUBG.

I think you kind of have to admire Epic for seeing that they’d already created everything necessary to set up their own Battle Royale game, and getting it done quickly enough to capitalize on the opportunity. Incidentally, PUBG is stuffed full of pre-bought assets.

It is absolutely not about being good enough. The game is more fun the more people you have. Plus you can be better when you have a squad watching your six.

Although they eliminated friendly fire some time ago so I can’t grief Freeman if we do squad up.

PUBG is rife with cheaters, both here and abroad. I don’t find it as ugly as some here do, but screw the cheaters. I’ll stay away from it until/if they ever sort that shit out.

I’d be up for Fortnite just about anytime.

Maybe in the future, then. For now I just wanna watch you guys Fortniting.

Saxon likes to watch.

I have been aware for quite some time that Saxon is a pervert.

We love him anyways.

Hmm… This is sounding better and better the more I hear about it. Might have to give it a go.

Well, it was exactly one month ago.

I’m glad you mentioned it, I had no idea - and friendly fire with randos was a HUGE issue. I actually have been playing more solo rounds, but my ceiling tends to be fifth place.

I know what you guys are saying about crafting - it’s a huge turn off, especially near the end of the round. This seems like the type of game you never get better at - but really, I find the learning curve is actually FASTER than something like Battlefield or Overwatch. Luck is actually a huge factor because you never know how the storm is going to shrink. Staying near the edge of the map and maintaining high ground are also neat, easy tricks.

A week or two ago I was on the fence - but I think this might be THE game for at least the next six months to a year or so. It will be interesting to see if Red Dead 2 has BR.

The building mechanic in Fortnite Battle Royale has always felt superfluous. It can help you survive a surprise encounter on open terrain if you’re quick enough, but for the most part any buildings can be see from a mile away and put a big red beacon over your head that says “HERE I AM! BLOW ME UP!”

S3 starts tonight or tomorrow I believe. Battle Pass will be $10 again which unlocks space themed gear. It will have 30 more levels than last season which means more items to play towards. I believe they said S2’s Battle Pass would reach the level 70 cap after about 75-150 hours of play.

Get the $10 pass and let’s squad this thing up.

Ah, so THAT’s what the battle pass is.

The amount of attention Fortnite Battle Royale is getting from the dev staff compared to the PvE experience (i.e. the “real” game) is almost humorous at this point.

Their Valentine’s event was over a week late, and launched the day after Valentine’s Day.
