Holy shit…reading through this thread, I gotta wonder who the Hell would wanna be an ER doc, EVER. It sounds like the absolute saddest show in the history of T.V. Well that and NYPD Blue. damn.
Yeah, there is some pretty fucked up stuff in this show. By my count only 4 people have ever escaped the ER without some major personal tradgey coming their way…Clooney, Euro Clooney and the two Nurses they were in love with. And even then Abbey and Euro Clooney were in a pretty bad place.
The “no one here gets out alive” running joke is funny because it’s also why ER is maybe the workplace drama taken to its most extreme. The show has literally been so much about the job that the characters aren’t allowed to have lives outside of it. They have to do the job until it kills them, like it killed Mark Greene and Romano and a bunch of others. You aren’t allowed to quit, and you’re not allowed to have kids or a wife. The job is what matters, and unlike Law & Order, which gets around that by simply not delving into characters personal lives, this show seems determined to destroy as many lives as possible to “prove” that point.
So, wait, the cop girlfriend survives?! I guess the soul-crushing defeat of Morris will come when she rehabs, flips out that Archie wants her to move in, and leaves him crying and alone.
Are they bringing everyone back to give Carter a viking funeral or what? They sure are playing at Clooney coming back. Did he finally relent?
Clooney is supposedly going to be in the March 12th episode, the one Margulies is in. Apparently Benton will be in it too.

Not sure about Clooney but to say “ALL of your favorites from E.R.'s past seasons will return.” SHOULD mean that Clooney will appear. Of course NBC’s marketing has shit the bed with promises like that before.
As far as Morris, I bet they drop a chopper on him just to remind me of how pissed I was at Romano going out like that.

Clooney’s this week. Honestly, I could care less about the show at this point, even with the Cavalcade of Stars this season, but I’m really interested to see whether it’s a cameo a la the last time he did the show, or they give him actual stuff to do. I’m hoping for the latter, because I’d really like to see how Clooney plays Ross a decade down the line.

That was a superb episode. Would have been a fitting series finale if there weren’t 3 more episodes left.
Awesome touch that Doug and Carol didn’t know it was Carter who got the kidney.
They did a good job bringing in the old crew without it looking like gimmick.
Yeah that was a pretty great episode. Maybe the best one in 2-3 years.
I would have been very satisfied if that was the series finale.
So, finale tonight.

I haven’t watched this show in YEARS, just tuned in for the final ep. You know things have gone to the crapper in County General when they let Rory Gilmore practice medicine.
I thought it was a pretty solid finale. Nothing spectacular though. I did like that they brought back the song and opening credits.

Yeah, at first I thought they were going to have all the stars on the credits from over the run of the series as a salute.
Very satisfying end for me, with the learner becoming the new master of his own master’s daughter. Very zen and circle of life for me.
Great of them to give moments to the old cast, like the ackward chat with Benton and old girlfriend Elizabeth Cordray. Everyone was left in a good place, except for Rocket Romano. He’s still under a helicopter somewhere.
I also dug them using the same basic set up for Archie being woke up that they used for Dr. Green in the pilot. It’s damn near the same shot, with the same nurse.
