Well, we’ve had plenty of leaks, rumours and fake outings, but we’re just 2 weeks from the show, so let’s share our picks and hopes.
Death Stranding is probably the already announced game i’m most excited to see anything about. Unhinged Kojima craziness with such level of talent involved? Doubt anything will surpass it.
Unless we get the full reveal for Shadows die Twice, which is either Bloodborne 2 or whatever else From Software is working on; rumours say it might be a Bloodborne style game but set in a feudal japan inspired horror-fantasy setting.
I doubt we are getting a new Elder Scrolls or any other high profile reveals, and japanese developers most likely will save their surprises for TGS 2018.
Wildest rumour I hope it’s true is that Vanquish 2 is gonna be revealed. Loved that game to bits.
As for the one game I wish was a reality but never will: Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine 2.
I can dream, dammit.
I don’t think a new Elder Scrolls is on the docket for Bethesda, but apparently that rumored Starfield game might be.
Devil May Cry 5 and the Resident Evil 2 remake should be there.
There’s a leaker that said Nintendo has Mother 3 ready to go, and Nintendo said something about that new online services they have having a yet to be revealed game that’d blow people’s minds…or something along those lines, which make me think that game might be Mother 3. So that could be something they announce during one of the many shows they do during E3.
Sounds like Nintendo might also be showing off Simon Belmont and Ridley for the new Smash Bros games.
I would be fucking surprised if Squenix had “something” on FF7-remake. Especially since, apparently, they replaced the development team working on it. Everything else sounds pretty legit.
That was over a year ago now. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they show something, unless they scrapped everything they had previously. They already showed off some gameplay last year.
Death Stranding is so weird. Like, yeah those trailers are off-beat and crazy, but it’d be a damn shame if the actual gameplay is a conventional third-person action game.
I think it’s a bit more unforgivable in DS’s case BECAUSE those trailers have been coasting on the strength of Kojima’s name.
With Death Stranding, I’m not sure if I care if the gameplay is good. If it’s a 3 hour cut scene of invisible ghosts attacking (and ultra aging) scientists who are stuck in the mud (also with foetuses in their bellies) then I could possibly pay full price for that. And I haven’t yet mentioned GdT and Mads being in this.
Gameplay wise… I suppose I expect experimentation that may or may not work. That’s what we got with Metal Gear and it was always interesting, if occasionally frustrating, to play.
I wonder how hard will Sony be pushing del Toro’s name on Death Stranding now that he has a couple of Oscars to his name? Not that I think he’ll unseat Kojima as the top name behind the game, but I do think they’ll emphasize del Toro involvement more.
The game I’m looking forward to the most is whatever From Software’s “Shadows Die Twice” turns out to be, however I do hope they don’t do a feudal Japan themed game. I think it’s still too soon after Nioh for a Souls style game to take place in basically the same setting. Not that I won’t play it, I’d just like to see something with a different aesthetic (but I recognize how impossible it would be to change such a major detail years into the game’s development just because a different developer released a game that was similar).
I didn’t think he was involved beyond being a actor in Death Stranding.
Nioh is a totally different company. There’s some rumors coming out of 4Chan about Shadows Die Twice. Could be total bullshit, but whatever, we’ll know in a week.
No problem. That Sony one I can’t fix is the IGN link for both the Ubisoft & Sony press conferences. Day of I’m sure the PlayStation YouTube link will have a stream up if you don’t want to copy and paste that one that didn’t work.
Well, EA was a bust, two indie games shown aside.
Anthem looks like the next Destiny, with all the good and bad that involves, and it will most likely kill whatevers left of old Bioware.
You know, we have Destiny 1 and 2, we have a pretty good The Division, we have Borderlands three times over. We have Mass Effect four times over. We have Warframe.
Anthem is pretty cool, but MAAAAAN it suffers from diminishing returns syndrome right out of the gate BIG time. There’s not a single thing in Anthem that looks unique and new in a way that blows my hair back. I was hoping for maybe a fantasy shooter like what original Destiny was going to be? Just for SOME unique hook at all… Instead it’s just such a collection of shit we already have.
I am still hopeful about Anthem. It looked liked Destiny, but I enjoyed the campaign of Destiny 2. If Bioware can execute that well with a strong narrative, I will be happy. I don’t really care about end-game stuff.
