Pretty stupid stuff. But it’s agreeably, cheerfully stupid, and Fillion and the fat chick from Heavenly Creatures were pretty fun. And considering Heroes and 24, it’s not like I was using my brain very much on Monday nights anyway. I’ll give it a few more episodes.
I’m also amazed by the FX. Swooping cameras aside, most of those highway scenes looked fantastic. If I hadn’t read about the greenscreen shooting, I would have assumed it was all shot on location.
The crap remixes of iconic road songs need to go away, though.
It might not be the most “thinking” show around, but it’s still a Nobel Prize winner compared to Prison Break.
Drive would be perfect with Prison Break. That would be a hell of a Monday.
I actually watched the premiere last night and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I’ll definitely let the TiVo record a few more episodes of this.
Unfortunately the audio on my HD feed from the cable company was ass. So I had to switch to the analog audio from my TiVo while going with the picture from the HD. What a pain.

As for your question Matt; if I remember, the trucker was maybe implying that what he had something in the back that would help him win the race. As a motivation.
That’s my guess. And I missed the super car crash at the beginning of the 2nd episode, damned FOX blacked out for 5 minutes. Anyway I can see it again online ?
I can watch Nathan Fillion in anything. Car chase scenes were too jittery for my liking, I hope they can do some inventive chases, I want pyrotechnics damnit.

I only caught the first 15 mins. Did it ever stop looking like it was directed by the folks behind Riptide?
The script looked decent, from those first few minutes, but the directing and editing style did not look promising.
Good casting with Fillion, Baker, and …the character actor playing the powerpoint man.

Let’s hope it does better in it’s normal Monday slot, and that those who tune in tonight for the first time won’t feel lost starting in the third episode. I’d like to see more, since most shows only get better as they find thier footing. Not sure why they aired the two-hour opener on a different day to begin with.
As for the trucker, I was under the distinct impression that he had a vehicle in the back that would be good for racing, not Tulley’s wife or anything.
I agree with, and was hoping for, the Jedi Hitchhiker’s theory regarding the trailer. That’s what kind of transport it looked like to me.
Maybe it will still happen?

And lets hope for world peace and that it’ll rain skittles. This show will be cancelled soon. If people didn’t tune in last night, they’re not going to know what the hell it is tonight, and they’ll change the channel to Fellating With Delebrities or Pick A Number on one of the idiot networks that don’t require you to remember a plot. I’d like to see the show survive, but how often has FOX taken a chance on something to let it grow? Not every show gets a (prison) break.
Drive is now up. Hopefully when it gest cancelled Fox will put all the episodes online.
This show is DOA, Fox just isn’t the place to nurture a show like this if the ratings aren’t there from the beginning. Damn, I wish they either gave it an idol lead in or it was on NBC. This all sucks because I rather enjoyed the premiere.

Weaker episode than last night, but still pretty good. Fillion is definitely selling this show, and I really liked the reveal with the Challenger. That car’s pretty popular in media these days – must be the ‘Vanishing Point’ callbacks. I like how the stories are being forwarded as the race goes on, however, I thought the scene on the side of the road between the vet and his hot wife (wilf) was kind of lame – definitely heading into “STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF AFGHANISTAN” territory a little bit.
I liked the half-brothers and hot bounty hunter, and all the stuff with crazy baby lady. I forgot to mention, but last night, they introduced CBL as being from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, which is about twenty to thirty minutes from where I live. Represent!
Okay ep. The challenger reveal was definitely the highlight.
This is officially the first time I felt the guiding hand of HDTV fucking me out of extra picture, as the opening credits got cut in half on my standard def TV. I get it, I need a widescreen TV. Leave me alone, Fox.
