They’d almost have to. The show is about a cross-country trip, and I for one would hate it if every state ended up looking like Southern California. Sort of like the situation with “Supernatural”. I mentioned to my wife about half-way through the first season that we’d never see the boys take a trip to the deep south or the southwest unless a dessert magically appears in British Columbia.

I just watched the first hour of this. Solid entertainment, in my book. I actively dislike at least a couple of the actors (the chick who plays Dylan Baker’s daughter tops that list-- she’s like a more annoying version of Lindsay Lohan), but I can let it slide. Nathan’s great, as usual. The young mom character has kind of won me over, too. I’m excited to see the rest of this series. Hope it gets to play out properly.

Hey, that was pretty fun. They changed a bunch of shit from the script I read, but it actually turned out better than that script – awesome Magnolia-esque opening that didn’t make it in aside. A little slow and uneven in spots, but overall a pretty good start to the series. I like how this is almost the anti-Heroes in that the show’s aware of the ridiculousness of the concept and takes itself just seriously enough, but also knows when to wink at itself and its plot twists. Also because I liked almost every character in it, whereas Hiro and Gunberg were the only two I could stand on the other show. I also appreciated the casting – there were quite a number of "Hey! It’s that guy!"s in the ensemble. (The dual American Graffitti cameos were appreciated. Thanks, show.)
I came into expecting to be rooting for Fillion, but now I like crazy baby mama the best. And I’m going to say this right now and be shamed for it, but Dylan Baker’s daughter is jailbait of the highest caliber. Well done, casting.
Definitely joins Supernatural in the “Better than it probably has a right to be” file.
After Grindhouse last week, and seeing Vanishing Point for the first time last night, this was the perfect way to cap off the weekend, and a damn fun start to the series. The concept’s pretty ripe for ideas, and all characters are pretty damn likeable, something I expected was going to be pretty by-the-numbers good-guys-bad-guys going in, and just overall, this just seems like a fun place to come back to every week. I just hope they can keep up the charm on a consistent basis.
Course, the fact that, batshit crazy character or not, Melanie Lynskey’s on my screen on a consistent basis will also keep me coming back.
Dylan Baker’s daughter might be about as old as Dylan Baker.
Also, I liked how there was no set time limit on the complete race. That suggests that they’ve got a plan built in for this show to last more than one season, if it gets that far. After three or four years, having the characters still be on the road would be kind of ridiculous, but they could easily take two seasons and focus on this one race, before starting over with a new cast and maybe a few crossovers from the last one. So it has that going for it, unlike “Prison Break,” which had the pressures of time established very early on.
Wow, what a fantastic fun two hours. I loved every character. My personal favs aside from obviously Alex Tully, is Winston and his newfound bro. Easily my Supernatural counterpart if it can keep it up.
On a funny note, the father and daughter team(the dad is awesome) drive my exact car.

I like the Iraqi vet’s girlfriend better. She was pretty smoking. Melanie Lynskey is quite cute, also.
Very good start. Not digging the two brothers yet, but everyone else is interesting and has potential. Also like that so far they’ve visited two of my childhood home towns.

I liked Lindsay Lohan with her daddy, but the soldier’s girlfriend takes the cake.
And I was not too surprised to see Winifred Burkle as the kidnapped wife. Is there a way to bring Adam Baldwin in there ?
I missed the first 10 minutes of the first episode and the last 30 minutes of the second episode.
I hope they replay this again this week… they usually do. I need to know if crazy baby lady killed that girl.
The car crash at the beginning of the second hour was one of the most fantastic things I’ve seen on TV in a long time.
The rest of the show had potential. I’ll be watching tonight, at least.
The commercials for this series had gotten me pretty hyped and, thankfully, the first two hours didn’t let me down. Man, what a silly blast! I really enjoyed every part of it with the exception of Winston’s overly frequent use of the term “homes”. It reminded me of this old board game I have called “Thunder Road”. Good stuff. And seeing Winnifred Burkel again did my heart good… she’s actually getting better looking as she gets older.
Question: (highlight… yadda yadda yadda) Would the trucker have sold Fillion his wife back? Or did I confuse the implication of that scene and the subsequent phone message? (end highlight)
