The video I saw a few months back of DOOM 3 running on Xbox looked great, but had major framerate issues, hopefully they’ve smoothed it out some. Either way, I can’t wait. DOOM 64 still is to this day one of my favorite games… hmn, maybe I should dig it out.
Between this and Resident Evil 4 I’m going to be a scared gamer these next few months…

Yes… DAMMIT. That and GMR (which also got shitcanned), were Ziff-Davis’ best gaming magazines. I guess they had to ditch it to put more resources behind “important” magazines like EGM or, uh… SYNC. Yippey!!

Any word about a flashlight being attached to the pistol? The apparently one-armed marine from the PC version really got on my nerves.
I’m definitely looking forward to getting DOOM III. I’m getting that, then Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Those are the last two I can think of getting for a while. But, graphic and gameplay wise, they look to be two of the best.

Not likely, as that was not an oversight but a deliberate decision made to make the game more tense and difficult. In fact, I’ve heard that during the Co-Op version the 2 players will likely have to develop a strategy where one holds a flashlight while the other stands with gun at the ready in certain areas.
One has to wonder is this is id’s deliberate attempt to react to the criticism that the previous DOOM games were nothing more than walking around corners and shooting things. DOOM III follows that same formula, but the gameplay has been definitely slowed-down and they added things like total darkness where you can use a flashlight but not a gun.

Doom III (Xbox) Pre-Post-Release discussion?
Will that Collector’s Edition be available in stores alongside the regular version, or does it need to be preordered? Anybody know? Because I need those original Dooms. That’s such a great add-in.
I can’t imagine playing those original old versions on my snazzy Xbox. I must purchase Collector’s Edition!!
Okay, I have to know, when is this coming out? Amazon has April 4th, and other sites have dates anywhere from late February to early April. Is there a concrete date out there anywhere?
I’m not sure if I should save my cash for this or go with Brothers in Arms or Timesplitters 3.
