BATTLESTAR GALATICA - Season 2 on SCI-FI (Spoilers, hopefully)

it’s the last episode before the Sci-Fi Channel’s winter hiatus, not the season finale. The advertise it as the season finale so that more people will tune in.

Been downloading this one as it goes (God knows if the networks here will pick up the 2nd season, and even if they do, it’s far too late), and am now finding myself wishing I had just waited for the entire thing to finish it’s run.

I’m not going to last until January after that cliffhanger.

God damn. Just . . . God . . . Damn.

Why can’t all TV be this intense?

Thank you Thyrol and Helo for taking out the trash… Questions to ponder: - Did Cain really shoot her X.O? - What happened to Boomer’s baby? - Would Cain even agree to go to Earth ?

it’s probably more than likely she did. you saw the reaction on the bridge when she ordered the attack of the Galactica. the crew was hestitant but they seemed to unwillingly obey here orders. i thought that was a good indication that know one wants to cross her.

i thought Sharon was still carrying the baby. the scene in the hospital was just some complication to allow her to be filmed.

Just saw the rerun of the episode again. Holy damn those last 20-30 minutes are awesome.

This is the best sci fi show that has been on TV in about 10 years. I am shocked that Moore went from Star Trek to this.

That out of the way, to answer a question a few posts back - didn’t somebody mention that the Pegasus was undergoing repairs during the initial Cylon invasion of the colonies? That the computers were down and they managed to get away undetected or something? I don’t know how a battlestar can be undetected (doesn’t simple radar still work in space? yes, it does), so I’m skeptical…could be another colony transport-style thing?

The main reason they got away relatively undetected was the fact that they made an emergency blind jump, which could have taken them anywhere, even into the heart of a sun. But it certainly would’ve gotten them out of attack and detection range in a hurry if it worked, which it did.

Thats a good point but didnt they also say they had been having hit and run attacks on the cylons since the attack? If they ever got within range of a basestar(Im just assuming a basic raider wasnt what was transmitting the signal during the attack but really I dont see why they couldnt too being giant flying computers) it would have just shut off the Pegasus instantly like all the other newer battlestars. Im thinking it was probably just a plot hole they decided to ignore this time around for the sake of an otherwise damn good episode.

Unless they heard about or learned about networked computers and took their computers off network. Then, of course, it wouldn’t be an issue.

i’m wondering if they’ll ever address, know that they know 6 is a Cyclon, and i’m curious if they’ll explain how the crew of the Pegasus discovered her to be a Cyclon (before thr attack human looking Cylons were unknown) the fact that she exists in the fleet somewhere, as she appeared in the episode where she was exposing Baltar’s traitorous ways.

also, i found it interesting that the 6 in Baltar’s head didn’t know there who was captive. either she was playing him, or she can’t communicate with physical beings other than Baltar, which i don’t think has been the case in the past as she seems to have known a few things that could only be known if she was communicating with the other Cylons. the dead Sharon seemed to be able to communicate with the live one, when she restated her last words to Adama. couldn’t a catatonic 6 still communicate with the other? I think they’ve written themselves into a tight spot explaining exactly what that is in Baltar’s head.

Whatever’s in Baltar’s head doesn’t seem to be able to communicate to the Cylons. Remember they didn’t find out Sharon was pregnant (or even alive) until Xena filmed her.

On the subject of exactly what Baltar’s Head Six really is, I’ve just gone through the show so far based on the simple “Genius Theory”.

Baltar is a genius. They say all brilliant men are one step away from madness, or some such thing. But that’s also the exact same reason these people are brilliant - they think outside the box and see/think/understand things that we cannot. I think the Six in his head is basically his mind’s way of piecing clues together, gathering information, processing things that most people can’t possibly understand. And, being the crackpot he is, it’s expanded from there and taken on a life of it’s own.

I know it’s a flimsy way of looking at it, and there is evidence to the contrary over the past few episodes (or is there? These stories are told from an individual’s perspective, and so we only know the facts from that individual’s perspective - that doesn’t make it a reality. Just like The Usual Suspects), so even though we’ve seen a fair few things, that doesn’t necessarily make it all gospel.

Remember - we’re taking all this in from the viewpoint of a half-crazy genius.

I think a lot of the actions of the Pegasus crew stem from the fact that they basically ran away. Sure they were outnumbered, but it seems to me that that gnaws at Cain, that when the shit went down, she jumped away. And thus the extreme swing to the opposite end of the spectrum.

I really don’t buy their story.I think the killsigns, the attacks on the Cylons, the torture, their whole attitude is a cover. No one said that Baltar is the only traitor.Smells like a Cylon plot to me.

Yeah, though Moore’s podcast on this says they went through bad stuff, maybe worse than what Galactica went through, and it’s something that they’ll explore in the next ep. I think they’re just really screwed u,p with no civilian government to provide mitigation, and everything makes sense in that context. (One thing that was cut in the aired episode, and will be restored for a 15-minute longer cut on the DVD, is discussion of the admiral, and the fact that she was fast-tracked and had only been commander of Pegasus a short time before the attack happened. That also explains a goodly lot about why everything went to hell on that ship.)

Allow me to throw my cubit into the “Baltar is a Cylon renegade” hat. Every logical sign points to him being one. His genuis, an obvious sign. His paranoia and visions of Six, his sometimes helping-sometimes not actions (just like Boomer, say, when she went looking for water). As I have not caught a lot of season two, has this been addressed on-air yet?

They haven’t talked about him being a Cylon, but he suspected that Number Six was a chip inside his head, so Baltar had Doc Cottle do a thorough scan this season. It turned up nothing Cylonish, but who knows.

i don’t remember but didn’t he test himself with the Cylon detector, or use himself as the sample for non-Cylon? it was shown that the machine did work, because he did successfully detect Sharon as a Cylon.

i think it would be an easy out to write him off as a Cylon.

also, there are how many models, 12?. we’ve seen maybe half. Sharon, 6, the Reporter, the guy on the station that attacked Adama, the other guy who was seen early one, and wasn’t there a Doctor on Caprica? Baltar would make the 7th.

Picked up for a third season!

This is great news. Although I’m surprised to see that Mary McDonnell has signed on for another season. Shouldn’t she be dead at some point?

I was thinking the same thing. Im gonna be really disappointed if she is miraculously cured and doesnt die. Aside from it not going well with her religious prophecy storyline(where it says she will die) thus far, shes always been my least favorite member of the cast so I look forward to her leaving.
