Top notch stuff. The action, the character stuff, all perfectly blended together.
And those scenes in the corridors with the Cylons hunting Apollo and company? THAT’S how you do a Doom movie if you ask me.

Second episode was very solid, close quarters and claustrophobic. The CGI cylon centurions still seem a little…subpar, though. Are they even looking for earth anymore?
Friday nights episode was top notch. Does anyone else think that Baltar might turn face after all? It seems like maybe he isn’t the huge scumbag he seems to be. I think they may be playing on expectations from the original series, I think he might turn out to be one of the heroes of the piece, shifty sonofabitch he may be.
He’s definately the most complex character, with Six possibly being right behind him (as we don’t know what she’s up to, she may eventually turn out to be quite two-dimensional, or very complex).
My roommaates aren’t into this show as much as I have been, although they were last season. I made a joke about it being the new opening credits not being intense anymore, but they got to wondering if that was it…the original (American) credits had that tycho drumming, with a quick-cut preview that built in speed…and got you pumped before the ep started. I miss it.
Also, Best Buy is advertising they have the UK version! Exclusive! But they don’t bother to tell you what’s different. I know the opening credits are different, but besides that, is anything else? Longer run times, since no commercials were needed?

You know, I’ve only seen a couple of episodes from the original series on sci-fi or wherever, maybe it was tvland. The only one that sticks out was when they ran into…the devil…and starbuck and apollo went to some sort of heaven and such. Somehow, I doubt that will happen in BG Mark II.
Yeah Friday’s episode was tight. How this show can relatively languish while aimless goofball programming like lost can subvert the mind of the mass, I’ll never know.
Still, I don’t think Six is altogether two-dimensional. Everytime I hear her mention the wonderful new baby, I think of her introduction in the pilot, where she reaches down into the crib and snaps the neck of a human child. I sort of understand how the Cylons have inherited their penchant for murder from their creators but, seeing as six seems to think that killing is the pinacle of human/cylon accomplishment, I shudder to think what she sees in the future for an offspring of mixed heritage.

BattleStar Galactica is hands down, the best sci-fi I’ve ever seen on television. I’ve been watching torrents for season one & two. I just finished Fragged, and oh my gosh, I can’t wait until I can see the next episode. I’ve never enjoyed television before like I have with Battlestar. This show is forcing me to get cable.
I’ll enjoy discussing this series as it unfolds.

cally shooting boomer? That struck me as lame. I’d like to see Ron Moore defend that decision in his podcast, beeyotch.
A combination of shell-shock and puppy love for the Chief would about explain it for me, since she blames Boomer for the Chief’s incarceration (thanks to Baltar), and isn’t quite rational because of too much visceral shootination. This was a packed episode. Why, oh why isn’t this show being covered in Devin’s THUD column? He should check out the season one dvd and get aboard this ride.
Papa Adama being awake again is good, and he’s still weak enough from the wounds that we might see Doc Cottle again (His line: “What did you expect, genius?” to Tigh was hilarious.).
I just love this show. Other than John Stewart’s Daily Show, it’s the only thing I’m watching regularly right now.
Yeah, but Tyrol was on his way to getting freed now that Baltar’s Cylon detector offically works. It made very little sense to kill off BSG Boomer from the audience pov. That is, unless the writers think having the humans gain the tactical advantage from all the information that comes with Boomer being a lab rat complicates their story arcs too much. Then again, they should just dissect her instead.
Or, maybe Callie’s a Cylon too. Although she’s probably just frakked up from her time in hell, er, Kobol. At this point who trusts anyone’s intentions?
I love how the reason they can’t stay on Kobol is because the whole planet’s been damned and cursed. A nice touch of the weird. This show walks a really fine line and sometimes it stumbles a bit. But the execution is so confident and the actors do a great job of selling all of the craziness.
I guess Adama coming back ends Tigh’s personal version of The Days of Wine and Roses.
I didn’t even think about her motivations. She seems just as crazy as the rest of them, and kind of gung ho, as witnessed last season. When you throw religion into the mix, people do crazy shat. That’s not a knock on religion, I just like how this show points out that religious people will do some serious crazy stuff. She’s not gonna let the chief go down because of that crazy bitch Boomer. Or, as someone else said, maybe she is a Cylon. Whatever. I love this show.
It was a good episode, but the Owsald assassination reference was kind of boring. And I thought it didn’t make much sense that Cally pulled the trigger - unless she is a Cylon. Kind of sucks to see Boomer go. Thought she was a good character. Of course, I guess she’s not gone from the show. There are copies of her bumping around.
Are we supposed to draw any conclusions from the parallel shots of Tyrol and Boomer’s blood dripping on the floor?
And I think Cally shooting Boomer is pretty complex – Cally obviously has a thing for Tyrol, so she had to be jealous of Boomer before her Cylon-ness was revealed. Now that Boomer’s a Cylon, BAM, her rival is gone and all under the pretense of shooting the Cylon who shot Adama.
The parallel shots of bleeding was a way to show that if humans and cylons are pricked, they both bleed the same. This calls into question the morality of simply murdering/torturing machines if they have achieved sentience and are virtually the same as humans.
Did any of you download the Battlestar Galactica episode commentary podcast? It has definitive spoilers for episodes 1,2 and 4 of the second season. Just do a search on’battlestar galactica’ and you will get it.

Another thing: Baltar left Galactica at the end of season 1 because Six gave him some inside Cylon info. Something about a bomb being on the ship, if I remember correctly. Nothing happened. Doesn’t he question the omniscience or clairvoyance of the Cylons?

think of the possibilities. Her consciousness is downloaded to a new body and comes back looking for Tyrol and he doesn’t believe her??? OR a fake boomer comes in and pretends to be the old boomer… man, huge possibilities with this.. not to mention there should be no ramification for the girl who shot her because she was a toaster, think of the moral dilema!
great stuff.. this is what I love about the show totally redeemed itself for the first two episodes.
