I couldn’t resist. I watched the opening of Season 3. Absolutely 100% superb. Now the wait for Friday is even more unbearable.

Well it’s time for me to finally get this off my chest…I have not watched one single episode of Battlestar Galactica.

So here is my question…Will the “The story so far” recap be enough to bring me up to speed on this show or do I need a marathon viewing of the first two seasons on DVD.

Finally caved and watched the opening 13 minutes. Wow.

Quick thoughts:

Dug the new footage in the intros and the cool crosscutting method used in the first few minutes. Never seen that before, with a frame of the following scene preceeding the fade to black. Oh, and the stuff with Starbuck is really fucking creepy.

A few notes:

So let me get the timeline striaght: They spent a year on New Caprica and then the Cylons came. The Cylon occupation has been going on for four months.
“Let’s execute Baltar.” “What?!”
The Benefactor? Gaeta, of course.
Even though I’m not loving the exposition, I am loving the allegory.
I really hope Callie doesn’t die, but I think it’s a real possibility. She’s a lovable character and Chief will be torn between caring for his child and continuing the resistance.
So I guess Anders got that medicine Starbuck was hunting for in last year’s finale.
Oh my god! I loved the reveal about what happened to Tigh’s eye. “I know it’s on your mind so I’ll just tell you. The eye is gone.”
Man…Kara’s story alone could be it’s own creepy Twilight Zone episode.
Man, Apollo has become one pudgy bitch.
I’m surprised that Juwalla isn’t pregnant. Then again, I wouldn’t fuck Jabba the Hutt either.
The ending of the first hour was intense. The webisodes made me really care about the loss of both Duck and Jammer.
How is Jammer not dead? It looked like he was standing right next to Duck.
When did Tigh get so poetic?
The night-vision sequence is probably one of the most brilliant things they’ve done on this show.
Kara’s baby? That’s fucked up.
I loved thar Roslin slapped Tigh
They weren’t fucking around when they said this season would be dark. Dead toddlers by episode two? DAMN.
No dead toddlers? LAME. That kid was PROGRAMMED to fall down.
It’s great to see the mix of anger but also jealousy in Callie when talking to Boomer.
I can’t believe Gaius signed it. That’s so fucked up. I frakkin love this show.
I pray that Boomer can get Callie out of detention in time, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. It ain’t that kind of show.
That would be so fucked up if they killed Roslin and Zarek. I mean, on another show, I know they’d be safe, but on Battlestar, everyone is game.
The rest stop bit was so fucking twisted.
ARGH!!! Cliffhanger!!!

Too bad the scenes from upcoming episodes flat-out told us Roslin survives.

And was I the only one who got the Great Escape reference?
