Will Smith slapped a reporter

who tried to kiss him. Says the reporter should be glad he didn’t sucker punch him. Classy.

AReporter had it coming. You don’t go kissing people you don’t know male or female. It’s rude.

AThe guy kept trying to force his way into Smith’s zone. To me it looks more like Smith did a quick tap or light smack to get the guy’s attention and instruct him not to approach again. It was more fight or flight than a thought out reaction to a man trying to kiss him. Some stranger was being aggressive, and his emotions got heightened.

I wonder if the guy was European…

You mean to tell me he missed a prime opportunity to drop an “Aww Hell Naw!” in public? He’s slipping.

If some random guy tried to kiss me, I’d slap him, too. Correct reaction.

I’ve been slapped. That wasn’t a slap.

It was more like a ‘wake up, dude’ tap.

You’d think a guy who played Muhammed Ali would have a stronger backhand.

Never rub another man’s rhubarb.

Well, that was awkward. Smith acted appropriately.

That was a pretty good tap - like tapping a speed ball before you start punching it.

He acted appropriately. But it would be interesting to see if that reporter was some kind of “personality” prone to stunts, thinking Smith too “Nice Guy” to put him in his place/make a scene. Or just an idiot who thinks celebrities are public property.

A “Wake Up” Slap is exactly the way to describe it.

If a stranger tried to kiss me (I feel the qualifier is needed since as a Greek man I kiss dudes all the time) I’d head-butt him. Smith showed admirable restraint.

Pushing the guy away is an appropriate reaction. Slapping him in the face isn’t. The whole thing feels completely homophobic. If a woman tried to do that, she wouldn’t get the same reaction. Just sayin’.

You can either claim that’s because he’s a homophobe or because he’s not a guy that hits women. Regardless, it really wasn’t much of a slap.

I’m less concerned about the slap (tap), than the comment that someone deserves to get sucker punched for wanting to kiss you. I understand personal space. I wouldn’t want anyone I didn’t know kissing me either. But I don’t think the appropriate response is to threaten bodily harm. It’s a reaction most people would have. But its a completely fucked up reaction.

Seeing as Will Smith is gay I don’t think it qualifies as homophobic.

It’s a personal space issue. Imagine if a guy tried that with ScarJO or Charlize on the red carpet.

Reporter better be glad Smith didn’t shove his head up another reporter’s ass.

Like this?

So we’re supposed to just let someone we don’t know go in for a kiss or we’re homophobes? That was a “back off, man” gesture and nothing more. You’re hilariously over reading this event.
