I guess we can finally throw dirt on TC’s coffin now.
At first I thought, “Did the internet go out??”, then, “Oooooohhhhhhhh..:(”
Do we need a poll to decide which one of these two new sites we go with? Things are fragmented enough already. My preference would be this one, purely due to the insane amount of work Schwartz has put into it.
But we need profile pics, I have a killer one!
I’d prefer here as well considering the massive historical effort that Schwartz put into this site.
The history is here, but I think I prefer the look and feel of the other site.
This one has a modern look and I imagine most of us are no longer modern!
I’d feel so bad for Schwartz though, if we didn’t take adavantage of his hard work. We are talking WEEKS of work.
Also I can’t log onto the other one and it won’t reset my password!
Those looking for a more traditional experience should navigate to Preferences → Interface in their User Profile, then change the Default Home Page selection to “Categories.” Further up, under Color Palette, you’ll find an option for Classic Sewer Green that is downright CHUD-like.
This is going to take some getting used to, but the community has shrunk over the years to the point where we amount to just a handful. If people are going to disperse to two different places instead of landing in the same home, this isn’t going to work out.
Ultimately, this place preserves 25+ years of everyone’s posting history, and the other does not.
I feel a bit bad for not using the bunker Stocks built for us all against the day the asteroid hit. But I don’t think it’s a vey close call between the degree of continuity on offer here versus there.
I’m appreciative of the work schwartz did in preserving the topics and posts. I’m in the same boat as Richard, though, in that the layout and design of this site just feels harder to navigate and use. I hate that I feel like we’re in our own version of HD vs Blu ray. I don’t have time/focus to do a lot of double posting. I’ll likely be over at Counting Down most of the time. If that ends up being fairly quiet, I’ll either migrate here or go into the west, and diminish.
