I like Mary-Louise Parker, so that is what has me interested in it.
I watched it. It was good. I dug it. Definitly becoming a weekly watch. 10000000000% better then The Comeback on HBO thats for sure.
“Be Debt Free!” infomercials are better than The Comeback.
yea, so i watched the first episode again (I missed the first 1/4 of it)… and my initial thoughts still stand… I’ll probably check out the next episode, but it really seemed to try too hard … which was kinda my opinion for showtime’s “dead like me” also
“Dead Like Me” is a good comparison. It had promise but also increasingly broader jokes, characterizations and plotting. I watched the first episode of this, and will watch the second. The cast is good, I like hearing that Malvina Reynolds song on TV (although I wish they would just let it play completely during the credits, because it’s more concise and sharp in its satire than the show), and if Nealon tells bad jokes, it will be in character. It’s a good idea. The cornbread line made me cringe.
Just watched the first episode last night. They really didn’t try to introduce any characters, but they just kind of threw you into the story and I liked that.
I kept trying to figure out who the kid playing the teenage drug dealer was and I just now realized it. He was Tom Cruise’s son War of the Worlds.
i thought it was pretty decent. i heard the show get’s better when justin kirk show’s up in episode 4.
I’ve been watching and it does seem to get better with every episode. One of the two reasons the watch the show is to see Mary Louise Parker’s character go to the weed spot to get her supply: that family is hilarious, especially the mom. Also Elizabeth Perkins is perfectly bitchy, she stole the second episode, I actually wish the show was about her characters’ family because she is so over the top and her family hates her.
the latest episode was the best one yet. i was a little hestitant of getting into a half hour show but this one seems to use the format very well. just giving enough of the characters to allow a little more to come out each week.
also, great use of graffiti…
justin kirk totally took over the show. he cracked me up in every scene he was in. the shirts, cyber sex with a deaf 16 year old and my favorite “i once went out with this girl with a baby arm. insaane in the sack. plus when she grabbed my dick with her little hand it looked gigantic.”
It gets better with every episode, I’ll give it that. I’m sort of sick of seeing the cliched “where’s my money?” *hands over a wad of cash* *hands over weed* exchanges.. how come weed dealers never seem to count the cash and simply except “wads of $$” for payment?
I think this show is a case of great performances, good characters, and just ok writing. Hopefully the writing will get better as the show continues.

I answer that I don’t watch a god damned thing on Showtime which has yet to produce a consistantly watchable show. Or play a movie I actually want to see. Or play soft porn that can hold up to Cinemax or HBO. Why the fuck do I subscribe to Showtime again?
