Videogame Series that need a comeback

Nostalgia over playing NeoGeo classics on my Switch and the Snes Classic inspired me to start this thread, so thats to blame.

i’ll go first with my #1 pick:

Phantasy Star.

I mean seriously, Sega? You now own Atlus, one of the best and more innovative JRPG developers today…get them to work on either a remake (Either PS-2 or PS-4) or have them a go at a new one.

I’d pay good money for a great space/sci-fi jrpg, dammit.

JET MOTO.

This was about the best of the racing games on the Playstation, and the series itself had a very strong following. I’m surprised that the attempts to continue the game have stalled in development hell.

ARiver City Ransom. There were a few expanded ports over the years (though only the GBA remake ever made it to the U.S.,) and a spinoff set in feudal Japan, but there just needs to be more of this game in the world. I remember trying various “brawler” type games and always getting exasperated with the way the characters would lumber across the screen at three miles per hour and attack like they were slogging through cold porridge, but RCR lets you dash around, ride tires, throw trash cans, fling mooks into their best friends’ faces, and generally just have an absolute rip-roaring good time punching it up like crazy. Why aren’t there more games like that?

SMASH TV

It’s been high time for a revival.

Make the last boss some Donald Trump stand-in piloting a mech.

Pretty sure they straight up made a sequel sometime last year.

The Scott Pilgrim game was essentially a remake of it, right?

hehehe I remember renting River City Ransom way back when… and my brother and I could NOT get further in the game. We just went around beating guys up. I think there was some jump we didn’t know we had to make?

LEISURE SUIT DONALD LARRY

Aren’t we due for a platformer of this series?

Hah, yeah, I know exactly what you’re referring to. You can get halfway through the game without ever realizing you can jump if you don’t have the manual.

Not only this recieved a remake, but Natsume has been bringing over the games to the west for a couple of years now:

River City: Rival Showdown
River City Melee: Battle Royal Special
River City: Knights of Justice
River City: Tokyo Rumble

Are all available for the 3DS

AMan. Apparently I’m out of the loop.

It happened, and it was HORRIBLE

There you go.

Natsume has been an awesome publisher for its game fanbases the last years.

Enjoy!

AParasite Eve

The second must not have been well received, shocked we never got a third.

Eternal Darkness

I mean, c’mon . . . really? No follow up on that piece of badassness?

AAdventure Island. I want to ride dinosaurs and skateboards.

Wow. Yeah, I’ll pass.

As for your first:

as for your second…well, Silicon Knight got sued into oblivion for being assholes, and both kickstarters for spiritual sequels failed because the studio/creators are tainted by their well deserved bad publicity.

The last one was a Wii ware game.

Its original series, Wonder Boy, released an excellent remake of the 3rd game in the series this year, and a spiritual succesor will release this winter or in 2018

Ah . . . on PSP, that’s why.

It can be played on PS vita digitally

How about two that should be a series, yet have never gotten a follow-up? Shadow Complex and Crimson Skies.
