Showtime to bring back David Lynch’s version of Portlandia.
I guess it’s about time I actually watch the original show. Only two seasons sounds very doable to me (one of the many reasons I enjoyed True Detective so much… short and sweet).

You mean “How’s Annie.”
Hope it doesn’t look as cheap as the rest of the shows on Showtime.

The first season and first half of season 2 are just fantastic television. Even 24 years on, and that’s something special.
The back half of season 2 is some rough going though. I haven’t finished it yet but I hear the finale makes up for that.
And this is awesome news!!!

Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie?
AI am literally speechless…never ever thought this would happen. So happy/nervous
God I’ve been ranting to anyone that would listen to me the last couple of years how much I wish they would do this. I would tell them Dallas is doing it (a continuation in present day) and what the Hell are the actors doing now anyways? Like any of them would say no to this. The fact that it’s 9 episodes on Showtime(!) and every episode is directed by Lynch is just mind blowingly awesome!
Good news!
Twin Peaks is back!
Bad News…
It’s nine episodes of James doing a road trip. ![]()
Lynch directing all nine episodes is the most exciting part. The man hasn’t directed anything that’s not a doc or a short since freaking 2006! Glad to see him back behind the camera in such a big way. Though if he found his way in front of the camera for the epic return of GORDON COLE, that would be great too.
I just keep waiting for some ‘gotcha’ moment regarding this news…
“The good news…9 new Twin Peaks episodes…the bad news…it’s 9 ‘seasons’, only 1 episode per year”
ah, crap…I think I may have just given someone at AMC an idea…
(BACKFLIPS IN JOY)
Finally the Twin Peaks saga will have a conclusion! Or maybe not! It’s David Lynch! But still, more Twin Peaks.
I doubt we’ll get a wholly satisfying answer to what happened to Coop, but hey, I’ll take even crumbs. It would be interesting to see…
…what’s happened with his Doppelganger running around for 25 years. I could almost believe that he basically took over for Bob/Leland Palmer as the town’s resident evil maniac. Maybe the show will begin with the real Coop’s long-awaited escape from the Black Lodge and trying to set things right.
And for those who haven’t seen it: the second half of S2 is really pretty bad. Lynch was barely involved at that point, I believe (he was directing a movie AND setting up a new TV show, On The Air, which I’d say was spreading himself too thin) and the show became an early 90s TV writers’ idea of what’s “weird”–almost sitcom weirdness–rather than the genuine unsettling weirdness of the early show. It also felt like they were toning it down a lot–the stuff about drugs and prostitution in the Canadian setup across the lake got dialed way down, for instance. BUT it’s still worth watching for a few things, like the bizarre “death” of one character being sucked into a doorknob, David Duchovny as a transvestite FBI agent, and the interesting-on-paper villain Windom Earle. Then the season finale, which became the series finale, is a return to the quality of the early show and actually may be the single best episode of the series.
So yes, you should plow through.
Not to be a crank but…
The show’s been done for 25 years. I don’t think we should be worried about spoiling anyone.
The Twin Peaks S2 finale episode is one of the most bizzare creations to ever appear on network, if not cable television.
I will be irate if it doesn’t turn out that Albert moved to a cabin just outside of town and has spent the last 25 years as the resident crank that scares the local chillunz.
Ait should be interesting to see what david lynch has for the new episodes
AI dunno, maybe this will be amazing but it feels weirdly like Lynch of all the unlikely people succumbing to the modern trend of milking anything with a recognisable brand name. I’d love to see Lynch returning to tv, but I’d be more excited if it was something new.
The new season drops on June 10, 2016. Twenty-five years to the day that the last episode aired.
Can we all just take a moment to contemplate the psychotic commitment (or else, mad trolling) involved here?
