I thought Rory had several opportunities to go for an arm bar or other submissions, but just didn’t go for them. Glad to see him come out in the second round and go for a high kick like his coach (Tito) said.
Sorry to see that Tito isn’t going to fight Shamrock again, although the Forrest v Ken fight should be great.

Yeah, I’ve heard that Tito is hurt and Forrest Griffith is stepping in to fight Shamrock.
A shame really, it would have been a good rematch, although I think Tito would have beat him again.
If Forrest beats Ken, it could skyrocket his career like it did Rich Franklin’s when he beat Shamrock in the first Ulitimate Fight Night, Season 1.
I think the Shamrock and Tito fight is still supposed to go down but at a later date; my guess is this coming fall/winter after both fighters get some time off. I’m sure that pisses Dana right off because it was a great tool for the series.
Shamrock is such a douche. His team wants nothing to do with him.

And yeah, Tito said his rotator cuff(?) was torn all through the filming of UF3, so they put off his fight with Shamrock and put Forrest in his place. And I also predict that Forrest will beat the shit out of Shamrock, much like Tito will also do.
Ken’s washed up, and he’s a dumbass. Speaking of dumbasses I’m glad that Soloman douchebag lost too, a classic case of a guy who talks a big game to make up for his inadequacies. Team Dagger? what a fucking dork. He was still trying to talk about team dagger after he got knocked out, people with audacity like that are amazing to me, as if anyone gave a fuck about team dagger in the first place but now that you got knocked the fuck out by some quiet, friendly, jewish guy who is a nurse after talking all kinds of shit, yet you still expect people to care about team dagger? wow.

That’s true. Look at Luke Cuomo from last season. Everyone thought he was a quiet weirdo who liked comic books, but he made it all the way to the finals!
Tonight’s ep was a pile of shit. No fight just because that pussy quit?! Nobody’s watching this show for the reality show crap. The audience for this show wants blood not tears. Noah has pretty much ended any chance at an MMA career at this point. Who’s gonna give a guy like that a chance now? What training camp would want him? Who’d want to promote him? What a dumbass.
Yeah, it was disappointing, but you could tell about 15 minutes before the show ended that there would be no fight. And call this a “spoiler” if you like, but if you check the time left in the show when they begin the fight build-up, you can tell about how long the fight will be. Last night, they didn’t resolve the Noah thing until about 10:50, so I figured there would be no fight. But, I think as a resolution, they may have two fights next week, as I gathered from the preview that the next fight would start off the episode.
And man, what a punkout by Noah. I felt kind of bad for Matt, but I can understand. The first time I got popped really good in boxing, I was mad for like a week. Then I got over it and went on with the training. But he’s a wrestler, etc., whereas I’ve only done martial arts before I started training in boxing, and I never competed in tournaments, etc., so I’d never been hit before. You’d think Matt would’ve gotten rocked here and there and would’ve known how to deal with it.
Boo. That fight should’ve gone to a 3rd round. Josh had a couple of good shots, but he did nothing to win both rounds of that fight. He got suckered into that triangle choke at the end, after Tait fell down. I thought it was obviously a trap to get him down on the ground, as Tait took harder shots than that throughout the fight and didn’t drop.
Disappointing decision. I don’t see how Josh could win that fight on decision, I didn’t see any way that thhe judges could give him both rounds. Tait was the only one I thought could possibly get the decision. I felt he handled what good punches Josh landed. And Tait certainly controlled the pace of the fight. He was aggressive in his own way, putting Josh in danger on many occasions. Really, the fight should have had a third round, that should have been the worst case outcome for Tait - he shouldn’t have lost on the scorecards.
Definitely should have gone to a third round. I guess Tait getting dropped was the difference. Even if he was playing possum, you can’t do that in a close fight unless you are sure that it will lead to you ending the fight quickly. This fight was so close that the judges were looking for anything that would distinguish the two fighters’ performances. Making it look like you got knocked on your ass late in the second round after what looked like a pretty decent shot is not the way to get the judging to go in your favor.
I’m looking forward to next week, though. Ed Herman finally getting in the octogan should be pretty good. Also, I want to see if Matt is the real deal the following week.
Finally had a chance to watch this this weekend. I’ll sorta join the should have been 3rd round chorus as well, but regardless, both guys shot their loads way too early. They both looked spent by the end of the first round, and there wasn’t anything impressive from either fighter.
Considering the sheer number of times Tait was handed a fucking Arm bar oppurtunity and failed to capitalize on it guaranteed his lost on my score card, and apparently the judges as well. He had a better second round though, so a third was semi-justified.
Someone show me something worth PPViewing an event for already!

Very much agreed. I loved seing Solomon (sp?) getting his ass handed to hmi after all of his “Team Dagger” nonsense, so I can’t wait to see Ed fight.
..and of course, seeing Matt in action after him getting so much love from Tito should be good.
I didn’t know Tait’s standup and take down ability was going to a be total fucking joke, I think half of america could whoop that guy’s ass in a boxing match, his standup looked uncoordinated as hell. But if anything he won that fight, he bloodied the other guys face a little with some short bo’s on the ground and didn’t really get hit with much standing up. The bottom line was that the fight blew and was a draw, and it’s extremely stupid that they didn’t fight another round. Split decisions are for pussies, fight it out until it’s clear I always say, or worst case call it a draw.
Yeah this Ed Herman’s douchebag loudmouthing probably means he’s overrated ala Soloman’s dumbass. But this little spanish guy he’s fighting doesn’t seem too formidable although he does shut the fuck up so maybe he’s legit and just not into the hype. I also am looking forward to seeing that deaf kid fight that tatooed fuck.
As a side observation, does ANYONE in this group know how to kick? 7 or 8 well placed thigh kicks and you can effectively eliminate 75% of someone’s mobility in a stand up. Far too much boxing going on for MMA matches.
I agree. Instead of watching the video of Ken “Uncle Rico” Shamrock dry humping Oleg Taktarov at UFC 7, they should have fast forwarded to see Marco Ruas chop down Paul Varlens. Mach Sakurai is one of my favorite fighters to watch because of his quick, stinging leg kicks. Keith Jardine also softened up Stephan Bonnar with those hard kicks to the thigh in their fight a few months ago. That stuff works. But, guys may not be throwing leg kicks as much because they are worried about getting taken down. That’s all the more reason, though, for guys like Tait who want the fight to go to the ground to use leg kicks.
Well, you’ll get your wish I’d wager as the kid fighting Herman this week is like a junior champion kickboxer or some such. It’ll be a striker v. grappler match.
