Sure it may feel like forever and a day before the new season starts, but we can always sit back and kill the time on here.
I didn’t notice the first time I saw this, but it seems like Mackey & Cletus Van Damme both fall into the grave at the end…
gotta say, I prefer some of the older style teasers with their sweaty paranoid claustrophobic Chiklis close-ups. still totally buzzed for the new season though.
I haven’t been this excited for a season of television ln a long time. Last year’s season finale hit the perfect note of cliffhanger/fucking bang to end the season.

I read in Ask Ausiello on TVGuide.com that Whitaker’s going to be gone after two or three episodes, apparently he and Chiklis don’t get along. Much as I loved what he did last year I like that the season (at least based on that information) is going to be focused more on the Strike Team dealing with what took place rather than dealing with outside forces.
shawn ryan mentioned that the next season is written as such that it would ask whitaker to come back for a couple episodes, but he wouldn’t have as big a role as he did in S5.
That is quite an intriguing comment about whitaker and chiklis not getting along though. For some reason, I am reminded of other feuds whitaker has had with other actors along the course of his career…but I cant come up with any legitimate examples. I think whitaker has a reputation of being difficult to work with though…am I wrong?
I really like that song in the promo. I’m having a bitch of time trying to find it though.

Holy Shit, a youtube comment that was helpful. That’s gotta be a first.
I’ve been looking forward to this season moreso than any of the previous seasons. The only other show that has me gripped this much is Lost. The season 5 cliffhanger is without a doubt one of the best endings I’ve ever seen.
I am now wondering what’s in store for Kavanaugh now that Forest Whitaker’s only got a few episodes. I definitely thought he would buy it by the last episode of season 5, but now he’s back, with a few episodes. Perhaps to finish up his arc? I’m also wondering if Anthony Anderson is going to come back as well. He’s got so much dirt on the strike team, and that makes him really dangerous. Bring on season 6!
I imagine Anderson would have to be involved somewhere down the line. There’s obviously a ton I’m interested in with regards to the Vic/Kavanaugh/Shane storylines, but I’m also on the edge of my seat to see if Dutch has mastered pimpology.

I think the talk of Whitaker not getting along with the cast and crew might be true. Almost every episode from the season has a commentary with multiple people but none feature Whitaker, not even the “Kavanaugh” episode.
It arrives on March 27th which pretty much confirms my thought that season 6 will start on April 3rd, since F/X shows usually show up on DVD the week before a new season begins.
He might have been busy filming Last King of Scotland. Also, David Rees Snell isn’t on any commentary track for season one (which makes him the only cast member to not be on at least one track), but I don’t think that’s because they think the guy’s a douche.
Although speaking of Ronnie, you gotta feel bad for the guy. He’s such a Zeppo.
I don’t know the exact timeline but I think SCOTLAND was filmed before the last season of “The Shield.” He’s pretty heavy in SCOTLAND while he shed a lot of weight over the course of “The Shield’s” season. He may have been busy filming some other movie but even Anthony Anderson is listed on one of the commentary tracks, not to mention the guy who plays Billings.
Snell is definitely the Zeppo of the bunch. Though I believe he was finally listed in the opening credits with the rest of the cast last season. He’s also listed on a few commentary tracks for the DVD set.
They must really hate that guy. Five years on the show and he’s had zero character development.
If you want a laugh go and read through some of The Shield thread over at TWOP. It’s full of Ronnie fanatics who are endlessly speculating on how his character will finally come to forefront of the story and play a pivotal role in the show. They were convinced that he was going to turn out to be the father of Danny’s baby. It’s pathetic.
I don’t think he ever got over losing the stach.
As for Whitaker, my take on it is that even if the guy is a complete and utter dick, when he turns in performances like that, you give him whatever the hell wants.
Just to play devil’s advocate though, what if the reason for his lack of presence on the commentary tracks is that after all the talk he got after Last King of Scotland has led to him getting many more offers that he just straight up doesn’t have time for commentary tracks. I was under the impression as well that his storyline was always meant to come to an end after season 5. What else is there for him to do now that Lem is gone (and to that extension, his case)?

That does sound pretty sad. I do think that with Lem gone, Ronnie will eventually become more of a force on the show. He always seems pretty level-headed and I gotta believe he has a better understanding of what happened to Lem than Vic will allow himself to have.
