pretty show
AOf course there would be space mormons.
Despite being stuck to a wall, I’m thinking Havelock will still be around. Right? I was starting to care about the relationship between him and the belter girl and it seems too early to kill him off . . . we’re still learning about Ceres culture through him.
Early reviews say no, which is disappointing.
Just finished watching the fourth episode online, and it leaves off at a good point. The first book really gets going at that point (main plot anyway) so I’m happy to see where it goes from here.
I’m still gonna watch tonight! After my family’s asleep. So, just in case, I can cry alone in my disappointment.
The space Mormons made me laugh, but then I got annoyed because of course they’d still be around hundreds of years from now.
heh…space mormons.
This makes the BSG comparisons slightly more amusing as Glen A Larson, the guy that created the original BSG was a Mormon himself. (Kobol = Kolob)
AFour episodes in, and it does feel like it’s finding it’s feet. I like the tension among the remaining crew (I don’t recall them being this antagonistic in the book) and only slowly beginning to cooperate.
And the arrogance of the Martian navy being replaced by shock as they realised they are the ones on the receiving end of an arse kicking was nice too.
Let’s go tilt at some windmills!
I haven’t seen a space battle done that well on TV in a long time. Fantastic stuff.
ADr. Feelgood NOOOOOOOOO! Swear to god, that gave me royal pains.
Is the Martian interrogator going to be a regular now?

Not sure about this show, maybe it would have worked better as a toon or video game? I like the fx and ships but don’t know about the casting, it has some potential to be something but there seems to be a problem maybe with the story telling? Out the episodes, I still find no characters significantly interesting or likable so far. The ‘Punisher’ actor playing the cop is good and so is the girl and latino cop with him, I think two of the older guys on the ship are acted well but the rest of the cast I don’t like, I am not feeling anything at all from them. The cast don’t seem to have chemistry and that is a very bad sign. A question for those of you who know the books? Is it going to pick up any time soon?
It seems to have a lot of good ingredients but the story isn’t gelling as a whole yet. I’ll keep watching to see if it does but it all feels a little disjointed at the moment. The Earth scenes feel the weakest for me, I’m not digging that actress at all. The environment they’ve built around Tom Jane’s character is so rich with ideas that it could sustain a series all it’s own. Whenever it veers away from there I tune out.
AMiller is a much more interesting character than Holden, although Holden ends up being the protagonist through the series of books. I wouldn’t mind if the TV show diverges from this and keeps Miller in the lead at least through the first two seasons.

Yes, it definitely does, in my opinion. Episodes 1-4 is really the setup - what happens at the end of episode 4 is really what kicks the plot and character journeys in high gear.
And I’m very excited about season 2 renewal! ![]()
ASeason 1 should have a really good action/suspense scene in a few episodes’ time. And good news on Season 2, which should have some great horrific moments in it! Hooray for sci-fi-horror-thrillers!
Just finished episode 4 and I agree it seems to know where it’s going now. They were smart to release 4 episodes at once because it does really feel like one big pilot.
Here is a great behind the scenes video for episode 4 (DO NOT WATCH if you have not caught up), which among other things shows the massive work they do for the Zero-G scenes:
AI loved the 5th episode. Progress for Miller, and lots of great character moments for everyone. This was probably the first episode that allowed the characters to dominate instead of exposition.
And I have to admit that the ‘Rocinante’ naming scene got me emotional. But that may just be because I have read the books. ![]()
AReally curious to see if they will be able to fit all of the first book in season one. It seems like they are rushing some aspects and drawing out others. I’m really digging it on its own though. I’d like them to draw some things out, especially as a way to relate to the characters more. Loved the way they’ve introduced Fred Johnson to the audience. There are some changes, but it really put me in the proper headspace allowing me to feel like the crew of the Rocinante.
