As im on a rather limited income as of late (job interviews coming up, finally!) Ive recently gone back to shopping used or new bargain bin games; the rather good results of this experience inspired me to create this thread, so go ahead and share you bargain bin experiences.
As for me, I recently got “Crackdown” brand new for the 360 (for ten bucks), and im loving every second of it, unlike any GTA game, which bored me halfway through…maybe its the super powered cop angle, but Im really into it; plus, jumping several feet in the air and fire a rocket at the gang car below you never gets old.
Also got “Burnout:Revenge” for the same price…pretty much the only racing series I can get into (never liked Burnout Paradise much).
PS: Saw “Painkiller: Gold Edition” for the PC (15 bucks) at a store yesterday…is it worth it?
It’s an FPS where you get a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning. If that doesn’t sell you on it I’m not sure what will. If you enjoy games in the Serious Sam mold where you just take on horde after horde of monsters with huge, awesome guns then this is right up your alley.
For some reason, the bargain bins have been extremely nice to me in terms of regular XBox games more than 360 ones (though the second my local mom n pop store gets another copy of Stranglehold for $7, that fucker’s mine). I’ve managed to snatch up The Punisher, Jade Empire Collector’s Edition, and Fatal Frame II for less than $10 altogether.
Less nice is the fact that 3 of the games I’ve gotten recently (The Warriors, Everything or Nothing, and Timesplitters Future Perfect) aren’t on the BC list.
How does Jade Empire compare to KOTOR? There has been a bit of a drought with good 360/Wii games lately and I love KOTOR, so I’d be willing to pick it up on the spot.
The customization blows, the combat’s a little overly simplistic, and the story’s basically KOTOR in China, but it still manages to be entertaining as hell. And for less than $10, you can afford to take a chance.

I recently picked up Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Tomb Raider Legend, and Crackdown for a combined total of 23 bucks. Lots of value there.

Ahh, I see Zero Puntiaction reviewed it, and yes, sounds like a must for someone like me.

I actually also bought the live content for “Crackdown” with my leftover MS points from getting BC:Rearmed…i have no idea whats new in the game, but its been so awesome, I couldnt care less anymore; the gun that shoots tracking mini rockets its fun as hell, and the first time i used it on some russian thugs on a missile towing truck was glorious.
Heh, I got Hulk for the PS2 montsh ago via Ebay…gotta replay that one, since I once rented it and never finished it.
I got Guilty Gear x2 from Gamestop for $5. Awesome game and a lot cheaper than the $15 XBox Live wants in order to download it.
I don’t get why anyone would pay that kind of money for “XBox Originals” when you can find most of them (save Psychonauts) all day for around $5 a pop.

I’ve had absolutely zero luck either locating copies of Fatal Frame games or finding copies that actually work in my system.
Picked up The Club and Crackdown for $25 at Gamestop. I was surprised that The Club was so cheap, seeing at how recently it was released; the demo was pretty good and seemed like a no-brainer for $15.
However, I haven’t had a chance to play it since Crackdown has invaded and become a permanent residence in my 360 disc tray.
Seriously, they should have just named it “Crack.”
You guys are really making me want to go and re-buy Crackdown. That was an ill-advised trade-in on my part, methinks. Especially since I can’t seem to drum up any enthusiasm to dive into GTA 4 beyond the 90 minutes or so I’ve given it.
I found the FFXI Collection 2008 for PS2 for $10 at my local Best Buy the other night, and bought it (last copy in clearance bin) on a whim, unsure as to whether or not there was any offline play at all. Well, it sounds like there’s not. Also, I fear I can’t use it with my third-party HDD.
So, I think it’s useless to me. Seems like a good deal for the original game + all four add-on packs + 1month subscription, though. I’m gonna do some more reading to make sure I can’t play it before I decide what to do with it.
