Jack Quaid(Hughie) and Claudia Doumit(victoria Newman) got married in Australia over the weekend. Smart guy. Hope he kept his dad away from everyone.
It was difficult to muster any enthusiasm for S5 after the truly dreadful S4, but I’ve been enjoying it so far … even though they’ve reset the status quo yet again and given the Boys yet another Macguffin to chase that will definitely stop Homelander this time, for real.
Well SOMETHING has to stop Homelander this time.

Episode 4 was well done and entertaining but also managed to accomplish almost nothing. The only meaningful change from the previous episode was the rebranding of the church.
While I enjoyed the haunted house/post-apocalyptic vibes of Fort Harmony, absolutely nothing that happened there mattered. The amount of wheel-spinning this season is disappointing. I have a feeling it’s only the final 30 minutes of the final episode that are going to matter.
What the fuck are they doing?
Some of this was amusing, but it was meta in-jokes with very little progression. What new material was introduced, was often nonsense (Sage had such a promising beginning, and they’ve done nothing with her character). Also, you’re telling me a whiff of knock-out gas can knock out Homelander? Then WHY THE HELL HASN’T THAT BEEN TRIED? Just stick him in a container of something and have that gas pumped in constantly.
The Firecracker actress can REALLY act. Damn.
**I don’t feel sorry for Ashley or Firecracker or any of these characters they’re trying to generate pathos for. They’re awful.
Given the actress who plays Firecracker is a lesbian in real life… yes, she really can act.
I did feel sort of sort for Ashley when the series started but at this point…nah.
When did they use knockout gas on Homelander? I must’ve missed that.
Some new mutant breathed on him and he passed out for several minutes.
Ah. Well, that can probably be handwaved since it originated from another Supe, rather than having muggle origins.
But yeah, this season while entertaining has been a whole lotta nothin’ so far. Enjoyed the irony of Tim Daly playing an ordinary dude, given his voice work.
But even that sequence was just a warmed over version of Bobby going home in X-Men 2. Starlight’s half-brother’s reconciliation was rushed and poorly done.
I found watching all the celebrity deaths in this last episode rather amusing.
They should just call this the Soldier Boy show.
This is easily the worst season of the show. I really hope the kill Sage cuz her plan and reasoning are just dumb. If she really wanted to kill Homelander, she could. Why is she leaving that part to chance?
And nice of the show to just forget the Gen V cast exists. I’d rather have them on than Soldier Boy and his plot driven motivations.
Just watched episode 5. Basically the superhero version of THIS IS THE END, with all the celebrity deaths.
This season ain’t good. The plot has not advanced one iota since the opening minutes of the first episode of the season.

As for Soldier Boy, I’m now pretty sure that Stormfront is Homelander’s biological mother. That’s the only way I can make sense of Soldier Boy being so pissed that Homelander slept with her (not even the Targaryens do that shit) and his comment about “Clara would have wanted this.” Homelander is her and Soldier Boy’s genetic child.
