The Batman - Part II (October 1, 2027)

It’s been out for a week now and making good coin. Suppose now as is good as time as any to start a Pre-Release thread for The Batman follow-up.

No telling when Warner Bros. will officially announce it and for when. Have to assume we’re looking at the typical three-year gap. At least enough time to let Matt Reeves unwind and zin out for the remainder of this year.

Plenty to go off of for where they could take this. Barry Keoghan’s Joker already exists and the seeds were planted for No Man’s Land as possible source material. TBD.

All I ask is that they think very carefully before proceeding with the take on the Joker we got a glimpse of.

Joker should escape from Arkham at the end of the second movie. Build him up to be the character that The Batman confronts in the trilogy-capper.

All I ask is that they recast and incorporate absolutely none of the interpretation we got a glimpse of.

Harvey Dent’s introduction feels inevitable.

I would only ask to buck the trend and not have him become Two Face. For any installment in this iteration. Mix it up. In fact, whoever they would cast (and I certainly have an idea or five), I’d use Michael Moriarty on Law & Order as the influence.

But who the Hell knows. I have no reason to doubt Reeves. Just want them to avoid the obvious choices like yes using the Joker.

Yeah, IF they’re gonna do the Joker, give him some build up. I’d really rather they didn’t, but it seems inevitable.

As I said on the podcast, Black Mask seems like a good villain for this version of Batman, but I’d like to see Penguin get weirder and more prominent. I don’t know if you could do a satisfying Killer Croc in this world but I feel like Reeves would do a great job with him.

But the question is really: what’s next thematically/character arc-wise? Because Reeves isn’t going to want to do a static Batman, much as many of ya’ll want a Bondian Batman onscreen.

The Joker in the second film with the creation of Two-Face at his hands towards the end seems like a natural “new” take on the origin.

This studio’s track record with being careful or subtle is a loop of flaming Hindenburgs circling around the Earth.

Include a intermission.

I didn’t realize that there’s a Penguin TV series coming to HBO Max. I hope Jon Taffer comes to rescue the Iceberg Lounge.

Give Penguin a long-lost father figure just like Ray Walston in POPEYE. But this time it’s Paul Williams.

Jon Taffer: “You’ve got dropheads in the bar, corrupt city officials in the VIP lounge, and this kitchen is fucking filthy! When was the last time you cleaned the Fryolater?!”

He looks as much like the Penguin as Penguin does..

They would eventually hug at the end.

I don’t believe that’s anything more than a placeholder for the character. No way he looks like that in whatever film he’s in.

Maybe he hasn’t been bleach-bypassed yet.

They need to get straight into introducing Robin.

They will follow the Fast and Furious series and drop The.

Batman.
