The Ready Room episode for the Star Trek: Prodigy season finale has an exclusive clip from the Picard S3 premiere at the 28:47 mark. It appears to be the inciting-incident for the whole season:

Brent Spiner has major “come at me, bro” energy there.
So, started a rewatch of S2 with the new season only a few weeks away. Shame Barry deleted the old thread. Would be curious to compare notes to what I thought the first time around. Anyway…
Finished the first two episode. Both are really pretty good. deLance and Stewart still play off each other so well. And the world building for the Confederation is really well done. I love the harder edged Q. I would have liked to see them switch up the skulls in his trophy room though. Shoulda been Gowron (or maybe Worf/Kurn) and Gul Madred (from Chain of Command) instead of Martok and Dukat. Give us some TNG connections instead of DS9 connections.
The differences in the “prime versions” of the characters stick out a bit more though. Especially Jurati. She’s almost a different person.
As I said over on Discord. While I appreciate them not wasting anytime getting to the action, you almost needed a 2-3 episode Season 1.5 to explore the changes in characters. Or to use the first 2-3 episodes of the season. But then that might lead to one of the same criticisms of S1 in that it took too long to get going. But it also might eliminate some of the saggy middle of the season where you could tell they were really stretching things out.
Anyway, on to eps 3-4.
Apparently the third season is really fucking good according to the people on social media who’ve seen the screeners. The showrunner is also dropping hints that he’s going to be running the Indiana Jones tv series for Lucasfilm.
Really good according to who’s standards? People who loved the first two seasons?

They sent screeners of the first 4 episodes out to media types and all the social media reaction is very positive.
I always take this stuff with a grain of salt if it’s over the top good or over the top bad.
Annie Wersching dead at age 45:

She also played Tess in the original The Last of Us video game (the character portrayed by Anna Torv in the HBO television-series).
R.I.P. Way too fucking young.
Final trailer. Looks good to me. They are really hinting here the Riker is gonna die but as with any trailer there is always mis-direction.
I’ll give it a chance. Of course I will. I just hope what this season chooses to do and chooses to go for vibes with me and I don’t decide I dislike it for whatever reason.
I don’t want to dislike NuTrek. I really do not.
There will definitely be more instances of Riker sitting by swinging his leg over the back of a chair than there are OG character deaths.
Riker and Picard fondly reminiscing about their days of violence. Urgh.
that is one bit I didn’t like. The Titan Captain saying Riker and Picard would be bored during the tour because of no shooting, explosions, etc..
Man did you watch TNG, lotsa boring ass shit happened.
I think we can all bet that Mike Stoklasa is going to hate this no matter what.
That bit in the trailer where Riker affectionately calls Picard “my friend” is the kind of thing that will grate him.
Got thru 3 more episodes of Picard S2.
So much of the 2024 stuff should have been cut. Like, there is no reason for Soong and his “daughter” to be there other than they wanted Brent Spiner to come and play and probably had Briones under contract.
Rios and the ICE stuff plays worse this time.
I still like young Guinan though but I still don’t buy Matalas’ explanation on how Guinan doesn’t recall Picard from Times Arrow.
The Jurati/Borg Queen stuff is good but…I’m sorry Raffi and Seven have zero chemistry. It’s not Seven/Chakotay bad but it’s close.
What was Matalas’ explanation?
My reading is that Guinan can’t recall Picard because in that version of 2024 Picard never traveled back to the late 19th century. It’s a good example of how changing something in the future can still change the past.
I still laugh about how she owned a bar called 10, on Forward street, or whatever the fuck that was. So, so dumb.
They said that about The Last Jedi, how’s that working out for it over 5 years later?
I’d put this show in the What the Fuck Were They Thinking? file but given some of the Usual Suspects involved, they weren’t, were they?

The Last Jedi has aged like a fine wine compared to the other two sequel trilogy films and only a true fool would ever argue otherwise.
